OK this has been bugging me lately - Mike made a big mistake on the chorus lyrics to Good Vibrations. "I'm pickin' up good vibrations, she's giving me THE excitations!" First line has 8 syllables, the second nine, and the "THE" sticks out like a sore thumb. It doesn't even make sense - what's wrong with she's giving me excitations? What are "THE" excitations? So on probably the biggest song in their career, Mike blew the lyrics. No wonder Brian wanted Van Dyke to do them after he'd promised them to Mike.
And in the second verse they just forget to sing some words so there is just instrument for a few beats! Shabby work by the guys on this song.

Bruce's keyboard is on. It may be quiet in the mix most of the time, or not be in the audiences mix, but Bruce will have his own monitor where he may hear it.
Even then, it's audible on Disney Girls and I'm sure people in the past have said it's audible on other songs, but I cba to trawl the forums for them.

All I have to say about this is...how fucking dare you endanger the safety of your fans in a situation like this. A man has the right to learn a living, but there are better and safer ways to do it.
Yeah, I'm disgusted that Mike and Bruce grabbed random people from the street at gunpoint and forced them into the concert. Absolutely despicable.

Yeah, the logical conclusion to "the set has been worked on for two years and is finished and ready for release but it doesn't currently has a date" is "it's cancelled" and "the beach boys hate us"
If we are gonna speculate maybe we could speculate something a bit more realistic? Maybe the biggest market for this set is the USA, and the main customers are people who shop in record stores, and the US situation at the moment means its incredibly hard to guess at which point the majority of record stores across the entire country will be able to be safely open?
Wait sorry, I mean "Mike cancelled it because he thought a picture in the liner notes was slightly unflattering" and "Al postponed it because he wanted to redub the aeroplane on Loop De Loop"

Why is anyone surprised this is the biggest pile of stinky $#it ever released, it's Mike Love. It's all he's capable of doing. Brian was, and is, the genius of the Beach Boys. I don't doubt he is using this time off to work on a freaking masterpiece that is going to blow us all away, and remind the world once again that Brian Wilson is a f****ing genius!
Based on his recent track-record, I somehow doubt Brian is about to release a masterpiece. But who knows, maybe he is on the phone to Joe Thomas right now asking him if he has any of the old 90s riffs still in a briefcase that they haven't used yet.

So why post it on YouTube at this particular time?
They've been posting snippets of Brian Wilson interviews about specific songs for the last two weeks. They've been all over the place in terms of timeline, early 1960s to 1970s. I wouldn't read too much into it. It's just the content machine churning out material for clicks. Aren't they just from that Warmth of The Sun comp tie in podcast from 2007?

I’ll be self-isolating from that. Ditto...as best as I can tell, Mike and Bruce don't have any shows until July now with cancellations etc. Unless I'm missing some? The London gig in June hasn't been cancelled yet (or if it has, they haven't told me). It will not doubt be cancelled soon though. For one thing, its at a hospital for army pensioners....

So do people have any actual facts when they are saying Mike controls the Facebook page, because I'm guessing they don't?
Much like the Twitter page (with which the contents is nearly always identical), it is almost certainly just someone at Universal. It shares posts from Brian. It shares posts from Mike. It shares posts from Al. It posts Universal Music articles. It posts links to songs.
It's clearly not just Mike sitting on his sofa in his underwear.
Just because you don't like it it doesn't mean Mike is behind it.

Just found out that Brian and co will be playing at the annual "Family Gras" in suburban New Orleans on February 15. They will be doing a Greatest Hits show. The Mike/Bruce Beach Boys have played this in the past.
Thanks for the heads-up. I've added this to the schedule near the top of the thread. Not sure why this gig is flying so far under the radar. Hadn't heard about it, and it's not on Brian's website from what I can tell. Maybe Brian and co. will be getting a lot of the gigs that Mike and Bruce used to do. That is, if the fallout from the safari gig is as big as it appears to be. Or... 99% of the typical Mike show audience either didn't know or didn't care or will have forgotten about the safari stuff by, say, March 1st.

I’ve said it before, leave the pre show interviews to Al. Listening to that interview I doubt anyone would have been persuaded to go out and buy a ticket.
Or else coach the interviewer on how to handle Brian and what to expect from him. It is possible to get a great interview out of him, but it has to be done the right way. "Don't ask any questions that require more than one word answers"? My highlight was this exchange (based off memory, words may be slightly different) "what does your wife mean to you" "well she inspires me to write music" "are you still writing to this day"" "no I haven't written for a couple of years"
