Dunno if I missed it but are there any photos of the Party sessions that have Dean Torrence in them.
2  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / New Stephen J McParland Book on BB's Sessions on: October 21, 2020, 07:33:28 PM
Stephen has just put up his new version of "THE BEACH BOYS OUR FAVOURITE RECORDING SESSIONS “ABRIDGED AND ILLUMINATED EDITION”".
It can be purchased at https://payhip.com/b/TP4D which is the direct link to the book.
or to see all of Stephen's books try https://payhip.com/cmusicbooks
Here is a little blur about this current edition.

THE BEACH BOYS
OUR FAVOURITE RECORDING SESSIONS
“ABRIDGED AND ILLUMINATED EDITION”

180 PAGES
WELL OVER 1000 B&W AND COLOUR IMAGES
UNLOCKED PDF DOCUMENT

This is the E-BOOK version of the April 2000 book In The Studio With Brian Wilson And The Beach Boys: Our Favourite Recording Sessions reconfigured, annotated and illuminated.
What you get is an insightful look into over 90 Beach Boys and Brian Wilson related recording sessions documented via American Federation Of Musicians (Local 47) recording contracts that span the period from February 1962 to August 1970.
Every effort has been made to gather together all the relevant facts and trivia about each recording session, together with information detailing the availability (and format) of the material in question.
Unlike the printed book, this E-BOOK version only deals with the AFM Contracts in question.
The sections “Who Said ‘The Beach Boys’?”; Summer 1961-Summer 1962 - What Really did Happened?” and “The First Sessions - An Overview” have been omitted as this musical period of the Beach Boys is more thoroughly documented in the         three books The Beach Boys 1961-1963: Inception And Conception; The Candix Story and Beach Boys, Surfer’s Stomp And Candix, also available as E-BOOKS from payhip.com.
Also not included in this E-BOOK edition is “The Sea Of Tunes CDS-Truly Unsurpassed Masters” section.
However, an additional section dealing with the FOUR VERSIONS of the Beach Boys’ tune Vegetables/Vega-Tables is included which was not in the original printed book.

Stephen's books are always well researched and encyclopedic with information.
Do yourself a favour and have a look at his body of work.
3  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Another Stephen J McParland Book Of Interest on: August 03, 2020, 12:51:37 AM
This is a blurb I got off the Payhip site re this book. His books are always full of information even if he sometimes uses information he has researched in more than one of his books. Who cares, Not Me. There is so much well researched information that any serious Beach Boys fan should purchase his downloads. The are always full of photos as well

BEACH BOYS, SURFER'S STOMP AND CANDIX
By CMusic Books
164 PAGES.
OVER 400 COLOURED & B&W IMAGES.
UNLOCKED PDF DOCUMENT.
ANOTHER IN THE "PRINT YOURSELF A BOOK" SERIES FROM CMUSIC BOOKS!

This E-Book was initially an attempt by me to put on the record certain facts and trivia that would otherwise not see the light of day until the publication of my more in depth investigation of Candix Enterprises, Inc. via the book THE CANDIX STORY.
However, as THE CANDIX STORY progressed, I decided not to publish BEACH BOYS, SURFER’S STOMP AND CANDIX and instead simply persevere with THE CANDIX STORY.
In compiling the latter book, I encountered innumerable problems, from the lack of surviving related individuals from the period, to the scarcity of various related 45rpms that are intrinsic to tell the full story.
I freely admit that this book - BEACH BOYS, SURFER’S STOMP AND CANDIX - is a recycling of material featured in THE CANDIX STORY, but ever since its publication, I have received a huge amount of correspondence from Beach Boys fans in particular asking me if it is not possible to simply produce a book concerning the Beach Boys and Candix period.
In fact, such a book had already been published by me - THE BEACH BOYS 1961-63 “INCEPTION & CONCEPTION” , initially in 2011 with revised versions published in 2012 (Second Edition), 2015 (Third Edition) and 2016 (Fourth Edition), all of which contained a variety of corrections and additions.
Nonetheless, BEACH BOYS, SURFER’S STOMP AND CANDIX contains additional insights.
It is for these reasons that I have decided to publish this book as a custodian of facts and reminiscences of individuals who so generously offered me their time and energy in an effort try and set the record (pun intended) straight.
It should also be noted that in addition to parts of a number of interviews I have conducted for other projects (including books and liner notes), this book and THE CANDIX STORY feature many NEW interviews with individuals previously and not previously consulted by me (and largely nobody else).
Please enjoy this book in the spirit in which it was researched, written and annotated.

5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / THE WILSON PROJECT - THE ILLUMINATED EDITION on: January 11, 2019, 06:45:05 PM
Got this notification from Stephen J McParland and thought is would be of interest to members here. It is an update of the Wilson Project he wrote many years ago about the time with Brian and Gary Usher.

THE WILSON PROJECT - THE ILLUMINATED EDITION
190 PAGES + 300 IMAGES
LOCKED PDF DOCUMENT

Twenty-seven years have passed since I first published this book.
It was out of print for some time before French based publisher Les Edition Berlot re-published THE WILSON PROJECT TAPES 1-10 as THE WILSON PROJECT -
2013 EDITION in March 2013.
This book is still currently available direct from Amazon.
Over the past few years I have received quite a number of enquiries regarding an E-book edition of THE WILSON PROJECT.
As an E-Book option was not part of my publishing contract with Les Editions Berlot, I have decided to produce an E-Book edition of THE WILSON PROJECT
myself.
This E-Book edition contains all the material featured within the Les Editions Berlot "book", plus whatever other information and materials I have
been able to unearth concerning "THE WILSON PROJECT" period, some of which was not included in any previous "book" editions.
This new E-book edition is more or less in two parts; the first section containing the "story" component of the book and the second section, titled
"COLLECTION OF MATERIAL", containing all the memorabilia divided into fourteen separate categories.
There are: Original Usher Polaroids; Relevant Record & CD Releases; Unofficial Releases; Odds 'N' Ends; Official Documents; Cassettes Received;
Lyrics; Some Usher Notes; Some Letters Received; Some Articles Received; Reviews; The Various Editions; Some Promotional Items and LOVE & MERCY
Versus Fantasy Or Reality.
I trust this E-Book edition - titled THE WILSON PROJECT - THE ILLUMINATED
EDITION - will find an equally receptive audience."

11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Stephen J McParland Candix Records on: December 16, 2017, 01:25:02 PM
I received a blurb the other day from Stephen re his new book "The Candix Story" and promptly downloaded the book. At present I haven't had the time to start reading it so I cannot comment on the content but knowing how Stephen researches his information I would expect this to be full of loads of information. I do notice that there are many many photos.
I don't know if this is allowed here and if not I will remove but I am going to include the blurb he sent me.

I must emphasise that it is about Candix Records and not all Beach Boys. Only about 100 of the 600 pages are about the Beach Boys time at Candix.

THE CANDIX STORY
HOLLYWOOD HITS AND MISSES
600 PAGES - THOUSANDS OF GRAPHICS AND PHOTOS

This is a work in progress.
  This in EDITION 1.
Additional editions will be published if and when more information becomes available.
Anyone who purchases one edition and would like the latest edition will be sent a promo code (upon request) to download the latest edition at no cost.
In addition to presenting all the currently known facts about Candix Enterprises, Inc., aka the Candix record label, this 600 page book documents the Beach Boys’ first recording endeavours that ultimately produced the group’s first single, Candix single 331/301 Surfin’ b/w Luau, plus a proposed follow-up single (for Candix) and other associated recordings circa 1961-1962 before the Beach Boys were eventually singed by Capitol Records in May 1962.
Much of this was documented in my 2011 book The Beach Boys 1961-1963: Inception And Conception and subsequently included in James B. Murphy’s 2015 book Becoming The Beach Boys.
However, subsequent research by this author has raised serious questions regarding some of the facts presented in author Murphy’s book. These are all explained and corrected where necessary within THE CANDIX STORY: HOLLYWOOD HITS AND MISSES.
A great deal of effort has also been undertaken to place the Beach Boys’ Candix single in context with what else was happening at the time; something that really has not been previously attempted.
The involvement of Joe Saraceno, Candix’s head of A&R, in the acceptance of the Beach Boys’ Surfin’ b/w Luau single has also been explored, in particular the relationship between the Beach Boys’ Candix single and the Mar-Kets’ Surfer’s Stomp single that Saraceno produced and allegedly co-wrote with collaborator Mike Gordon.

THE CANDIX STORY: HOLLYWOOD HITS AND MISSES will be the FIRST of the CMusic Books Download Series offered up as a “print your own book”.
It is an unlocked PDF.

PRICE OF THE DOWNLOAD - $US8.95

Again I must emphasise that it is about Candix Records and not all Beach Boys. Only about 100 of the 600 pages are about the Beach Boys time at Candix.

This seems like great value.

Most likely because the majority of people interested in BBs/California Music haven't actually read his books. This is mainly because he lives in Australia and shipping cost are prohibitive from there to anywhere in the world.

He now makes them available a very reasonable prices via an Ebook method.

He has in the pipeline a massive 600 page book on Candix records and bringing up to date both the information from his first book on the Beach Boys  at Candix and also James Murphy's book as well. Somewhere around 60 pages just devoted to the BB/Candix era.
