Personally I shall be photographing myself buying SMiLE and posting it on this very thread, because I am a tragically sad individual.

That makes two of us.

Personally, i tend to overlook (aka-not listen to as much as i should), the following. Shut Down Vol 2, Summer Days and Summer Nights, Party!, 20/20, Surf's Up, So Tough, and L.A Light.
On the other hand, i may over-appreciate a couple....based on some people's thoughts on them. M.I.U., Keeping the Summer Alive and BB's '85.
I'm in no way saying i think certain albums are better than others, just that some get played more occasionally than others.

I bought a copy of Pet Sounds in 2001, which then led to the two-fers. Smiley/Honey was one of the first ones i bought. Reading all the SMiLE talk in the liner notes really intrigued me. I then bought Friends/20/20. Our Prayer and Cabinessence would remain stuck in my head for weeks. Later in '01 i caught "An American Band" on tv. Hearing the Bicycle Rider section, some of Fire and Brian at the piano playing Surf's Up all for the first time totally blew my mind. From there i bought the GV box set and a copy of LLVS on the same day. Easily, one of the most satisfying days of my life. The next logical step was d/l bootlegs online. (Uh oh). Skip ahead to Feb 20, 2004 and i was on here all night, like many of you, obsessively reading every post. Now it's almost Nov 1st and it STILL kind of seems like a dream. I'm sure it will fully hit me when i'm in the record shop that morning staring at SMiLE on the shelf amongst Rihanna and Maroon 5 cd's.

It was amazing and I swear a few times that Brian looked at me and smiled

Brian didn't smile at me, but he did lock eyes with me (in the 4th row) for what felt like 10 seconds during a show this past June. It was during a part in the show in which he was sitting on his trusty stool while his band performed all of the harmonies. My girlfriend elbowed me and said "he's staring right at you".
He did this once before while i was first in line waiting for an autograph. He was sitting at the table while Jeff was arranging some things for him and Brian looked at me (again, what felt like 10 seconds) with that tired and sad "I really don't want to be here right now" face.

I'm going to echo the creepy sentiment. That photo is unsettling. It freaks me a out a little bit.

That's probably one of my favourite Brian pics I've ever seen. Really hoping it's in the booklet.

I'm just wondering what everyone else's disposition is as far as the issue of spoilers go and whether or not those who don't wish to be spoiled should avoid this thread until 11/1?

As Frank Costanza once said, "I want to go in fresh!". Unfortunately, it's SMiLE and i couldn't resist. With just a little over two weeks to go until the big day i'm seriously considering taking a vacation from this site. I want SOME element of surprise come Nov 1st. I feel like i have already listened to/read too much about TSS. Two and half weeks in the dark won't kill me...right?

I'm so glad to see that the SMiLE promo is on there.

Well this just made my day. Thanks to everyone involved in getting this thing back on track.

Blown away with this mix. The abrupt "bop bop bop bop" part gave me a jolt. I wasn't expecting it to appear so suddenly. There is no breathing room in this version and i like it that way. This is 'mad genius' Brian Wilson at his best.

I'm giving into temptation after telling myself i wouldn't. It's rough being a SMiLE JUNKiE. Can someone please PM me this version of Vega-tables?  Thanks in advance.
86  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: SMiLE Sessions Price Thread. on: September 20, 2011, 01:32:04 PM
I purchased mine for $123...which i was more than ok with. Now at $103, this is just another reason to SMiLE.
87  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: SMiLE Sessions Price Thread. on: September 20, 2011, 08:14:27 AM
Woo. It's now $103.78 on Amazon.ca.

Wait, i admit confusion. Sorry. I was talking about the brief sound during the "My children were raised" section. Damn song has so many sections! Which audio pop are you talking about exactly?

That's weird, i was just going to say that i just listened to the youtube link and i did not hear it on there.

I hear it at 3:04 on the youtube video. I hate being so picky, but it bugs me every time.

--the beginning of the first "la" actually getting cut off (which doesn't sound intentional). And then there's that damn "pop" in the "I've been in this town so long" transition. Do people not hear that?? It's terrible. How can anyone miss that? Is that a glitch that's only on my copy? Can someone please confirm whether they hear this on their copy or not? Maybe it's just an error that occurred when i was downloading the mp3? I really hope so.

It's on my mp3 version as well. It can also be heard on the youtube video.
As far as the "la la la la" part, it doesn't seem so obvious when i listen to it without headphones.

It isn't audible in every version...  Listen to the stereo mixes on Secret Smile at about :30 and you'll hear it clearly.

This is why i love this site. I'm always learning something new....no matter how small and unimportant it may seem to those on the outside.

14. Vega-Tables (3:49)   again for me a complete blank

Using the GV box set version, i simply added the slow acapella "I know that you'll feel better" bit right after the Bop bop bop bop do-do-do do-do-do
part. The length of my mix is 3:49. Not saying that is what they've done for TSS, but it's a possibility.

Man, Canada loves SMiLE, number 1 baby..

In some strange way i've never felt more proud to be Canadian. Ha.
95  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: SMiLE Sessions Price Thread. on: September 02, 2011, 07:30:35 AM
I'm totally new to this Amazon thing. I ordered my box for $146 from Amazon.com. Can i cancel my order? I live in Canada so i might as well go for their $123 version.
Also, has there been any word about just how limited this box set will be?
96  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Our collective wait for SMiLE on: August 30, 2011, 06:14:05 PM
Ten year wait for me. I can't imagine the feeling of having to wait since 1966 when word first came out about SMiLE. Geez, TEN years almost killed me. Ha.

Anyone notice anything about the video?

It says six panel folder containing 5 cd's. This confuses me.

That little ad on amazon just got me even more pumped up for this! It looks amazing.
99  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: SMiLE Sessions box set! on: August 26, 2011, 06:38:53 PM
I really regret not ordering it 2 hours ago. If i understand this correctly, if i buy now at $146 and the price is lowered as of the day of the release, i will pay that lowered price? I should pre-order asap before this thing goes up even higher in cost.

Just go to amazon.com and it'll ask you what country you are in then you'll get a estimated delivery time.
