Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Anniversary editions for the less revered albums

The 40th anniversary treatment for Wild Honey was a really nice surprise. I can see Friends, 20/20 and Sunflower getting the same treatment (maybe even everything up to Love You).
However what about the less revered albums? For example; do we see MIU, LA Light and KTSA getting anniversary editions with lots of bonus tracks? I know I'd buy them! What about you guys?

Sloop John might be my least favorite song on Pet Sounds but I really appreciate it for how much is going on there musically.
I actually like listening to Brian do this song when he's older. He's really aged into verses like "I wanna go home... Let me go home...".

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Did Al Jardine die in 1965 only to be replaced by a lookalike ?

Not sure if this is pertinent to your weird investigation but I thought I'd share an observation.
Al Jardine went through a brief but intense obsession with bells as an instrument between 1978 and 1979. They're all over MIU (which he produced) and Lady Linda. Then all of a sudden BOOM, Santa Ana Winds, no bells...
What was he trying to tell us? Ask not for whom the bell tolls?
Precisely, and Sal was also trying to tell us with the bells that the original Al was secretly buried behind Worthington Dodge on Bell-flower Blvd. in L.A. In its goofy commercials, Cal (!) Worthington always a wild animal by his side which he referred to as "my dog Spot", an obvious allusion to Pet Sounds. The bells were utilized the most in 1978... 78... 7... The number of letters in Jardine. 8... The number of letters in the word REPLACED! Say it isn't so!

Took me awhile, but I've finally chosen my favorite song from every classic album the lads ever made. Peace & love, peace & love.
Please Please Me: Do You Want to Know a Secret Something New: Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand The Early Beatles: Twist and Shout Post Card: Inch Worm 20 Greatest Hits: Yellow Submarine The Number Ones: Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Starpeace: I Love You, Earth Ringo Rama: Trippin' On My Own Tears Karaoke: 100 Hits Presents 60's: Hey Jude The Beatles - Rock Band: Yellow Submarine
I think you forgot a few: In the Beginning (circa 1960): My Bonnie Hey Jude: I Should Have Known Better Straight Up: Day After Day Holly Days: Take Your Time Rarities: Misery The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits: All My Loving Billy Sullivan Plays the Beatles: Paperback Writer/Rain How could I forget The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits? Such a solid album, not to mention the last time Lennon and McCartney really worked well together.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Alternate Reality: Al, Mike, and Brian as The Beach Boys

I have a strange soft spot for MIU. I know it's not great but I still end up listening to it a lot as a curiosity. Songs and production aside, what's so distinctive about it is the lineup. Carl and Dennis had minimal to no involvement and we got a Beach Boys album where the unlikely team of Al, Mike, and Brian do all the heavy-lifting.
In an alternate reality where this era made Carl and Dennis quit the band for good, what do you think would have happened with the other three guys at the helm in 1978 onward...?

I'm going to put my butt on the line here. I think that Brian and Scott made a good collaboration team. If Midnight's Another Day(and most of the TLOS album) is a good indication, then he brought out the best of Brian. When the news about Scott surfaced I was a bit bummed out because I knew they would never work again. You may now commence with the rock throwing, and your regularly scheduled sh*t storm. What a bummer. This is why they say it's better not to know your heroes. I'd extend that to artists in general. While I'd hesitate to ever praise Scott as a person I do think he should be recognized for his musical contributions.

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Pink Floyd Appreciation Thread

My favorite Pink Floyd era was when Syd Barrett and David Gilmour were kind-of-sort-of in the band at the same time. Five members is better than four as proven by The Beach Boys. Can you imagine the 15 Big Ones cover with four guys...? Doesn't work. Given this, I tune out on Pink Floyd after that period. Hope I didn't miss anything.
