Alan Boyd has been popping into the Discord with tiny, tiny bits of info.

It's been talked on Discord that several new session dates in 1968 were added to Bellagio(http://www.bellagio10452.com/gigs68.html). To quote SaltyMarshmallow over there:

Away
I’m Confessin
You’re as Cool as Can Be track 1
You’re as Cool as Can Be track 2
Rock & Roll Woman track
Time to Get Alone demo
All I Wanna Do (May 24 session)
Well You Know I Knew (June 3)
Can’t Wait Too Long (sessions on July 24, 25, 26 & 30)
Mona Kana demo (July 25)
Dennis demos: Love Affair/Be With Me/Peaches (Aug 29)
I Can Hear Music demo
All I Want to Do (extra sessions)
Is It True What They Say About Dixie (Audree Wilson lead vocal)

Now I'm SO hyped!

Damn! Rock & Roll Woman. I loved the performance on the An American Band doco. Doesn't look like the BB recorded a vocal for it in the studio though.
And more Dennis?! bring it on.

...alternate versions of All I Want To Do with Dennis on lead on upcoming 1968 copyright extension release, and Alan Boyd technically confirmed it on Discord.

Whoa now! That'd be awesome!

Whoa! First i've heard of it.

Google took me to this article from March. New Zealand actor James Trevena-Brown
https://spy.nzherald.co.nz/spy-news/kiwi-actor-to-star-as-beach-boy/

"Hunky New Zealand actor James Trevena-Brown  built on his success in the Auckland-filmed The Shannara Chronicles and moved to Hollywood to chase his dreams in 2016. Now his surfer-boy looks have landed him a role playing one of the legendary Beach Boys in the upcoming Charles Manson biopic, Charlie Says.

Trevena-Brown, 31, is set to play Beach Boy Dennis Wilson..."

Very interesting information. Thanks Mr Desper.

Have found myself checking the ol' podcast for the latest ep since Sunday night. Refresh... refresh... refresh...

We had to skip a week because we were on tour but we recorded a new one tonight and I'll have it up on Monday!  Sorry for the delay and thanks for listening.

I thought that was the case. Just letting you know you're in demand Smiley

Digging Sail On. I'm liking that they alternate between episodes based on albums and episodes based on other aspects of the band. I hope they keep it going long enough, to the point where they've run out of albums to dissect and start delving deeper into any old subject that takes their fancy and hopefully include special guests.

<< hear the other members (and Desper even) step up a bit more in the studio (Carl producing I Can Hear Music) if audio of this exists.>>

The Unsurpassed Masters boot series includes audio from the "I Can Hear Music" sessions - Carl laying down the initial track with Dennis, then some overdubs including one featuring Carl, Dennis, Bruce, and Mike Kowalski.

I think I have that somewhere, will definitely have to find it and give it a listen. But yes, more of that kind of stuff would be amazing.

What are we expecting or hoping for from a 1968 based release?

Looking at the Bellagio site (http://esquarterly.com/bellagio/gigs68.html), 1968 contained all the sessions for Friends *and* 20/20... and more. That's a fair whack of stuff. I am looking forward to some different mixes (instrumental, a capella), different takes etc. but I'd really love to hear some long form session recordings to hear where Brian was at and perhaps hear the other members (and Desper even) step up a bit more in the studio (Carl producing I Can Hear Music) if audio of this exists.

Well done.

However, 'How She Boogalooed It' is awesome.
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys Wild Honey(Sunshine Tomorrow) 2CD Set? on: July 05, 2017, 05:12:53 AM
Does anybody else think "Untitled (Redwood)" might have been an early take for Time to Get Alone?  Given that the song was intended for Redeood, it makes sense.  I hummed the verse melody over it and it certainly fits.

Hey, I've always thought that. In fact I am surprised by it being titled Untitled (Redwood) on the new release.
Here's a demonstration of how it fits that I just whipped up... https://youtu.be/KAqmMjUoodU

15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Nashville band Natural Child's BB inspired tune on: November 01, 2016, 05:13:07 AM
One of my favorite bands is this low-down, boogie-woogie, Nashville band Natural Child. Their latest album Okey Dokey has a song called 'Transcendental Meditation' (obviously a big thing in the BB history). Have a listen to the song though, there are definitely elements of 'I Just Got My Pay'. First time I heard the song I noticed the very first line is "Well I'm savin' up my money", which had me thinking "I like spendin' my money, and I like havin' a good time...". Whether you hear it or not, good tune.

Pretty harsh article. Seems like this person had already made up their mind before reading the book.

Very cool interview. The excerpts from the '88 interview with Brian were... classic Brian
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The great lost Dennis Wilson 1965 lead vocal. For what song? on: May 02, 2015, 06:37:42 PM
I can hear Dennis doubling the verses too. It's hard to hear Dennis clearly under the reverb. His voice is definitely a lot quieter than Brian's for the most part but it pops out more on those phrase ending syllables that people mentioned... or in some cases it sound like his voice is boosted or replaces Brian's altogether.
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Combining albums as a Two-fer. on: April 16, 2015, 05:28:36 AM
Surfer Girl / All Summer Long

My favorite of the surf / car albums.  That would be a killer 2-fer.

I have this twofer in the shape of a double cassette. It's a good one.
22  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Tobias Jesso Jr. (serious Dennis Wilson vibes... chills) on: February 19, 2015, 06:34:33 AM
Ok. This guys album is out soon. I'm picking up strong Dennis Wilson vibes... especially thematically on the song Hollywood. Really great songwriters still exist. Do yourself a favour.

I'd get rid of Heroes and Villains and Good Vibrations as I've always felt they just don't belong. I'm gonna start it off with You're Welcome just for the fun of it. It's a 21 minute trip.
