Planning to see the Darlene Love Holiday show this Christmas I reviewed her discography and it says she did vocals on In My Room. this is news to me but it is mentioned in her bio discography. News to me....how about you........especially those who keep detailed records of recording sessions? We often hear about session musicians but how about session vocalists?
If you searched by key words "darlene room" instead of starting new topic, you'd find this: http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,14876.0.htmlforgot about looking there first. In fact, I posted on that in 2014:). but I have been rereading her bio prior to going to her Xmas show this year and had just read the IMR claim and immediately picked up my I Pad to ask you guys...... Sorry about the redundant thread, cause I know how some of you just hate that

The Beachboys were of their era on this topic as we all were in our own particular formative years. I would assume they have moved on and matured , evolved , to borrow a phrase from the politicians. Most of us who grew up in the 50s and 60s were exposed to a lot of bigotry and intolerance, insensitive jokes about women, ethnic groups, and gays. Hopefully most of us here have gotten beyond this along with the Beachboys. still, a lot of folks , even some educated folks, seem to have trouble letting go of rigid gender role expectations. but as has been said, probably enuf of this topic in this particular forum.

I am disconsolate...
what brings you to such a state? Just curious......only having a bit of fun here........I've actually used this in a tongue and cheek fashion to convey to folks why I would travel all over to see three versions of the same band over and over and have seen these guys countless times.......deadhead, parrot head, they understand.........part of a subculture that intensely follows and digs a musical act.......shorthand, that serves to describe in a word, this sort of relatively harmless obsession

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Group name for Hard Core Beach Boys Fans

I believe there was a thread for this a few years ago; One of the names suggested , as with Parrot Heads or Dead Heads, was Beach Heads. I move that we adopt this officially. I am a Beach Head. You are a Beach Head. WE......are BEACH HEADS. This covers fans of all BB band configurations, solo acts, and children of original Beach Boys who keep the summer alive. This has been discussed and needs to be set in stone and put out to the general media. I have given this a lot of thought and I feel the time has come to adopt this and promulgate, put forth the group identity of "Beach Heads".

I recently bought the American book but I think I haven't otter to the Carl reference yet.......What page?
also, since we have slipped a kinks thread in here, I have to recommend to all Ray's exceptional solo CD O ther People's Lives. I never tire of it. classic Ray and a top notch album.

they have been known to have several designs out at once.......especially in more recent years. One of my favorites was the drum head sunset that came out around that time just after the loss of Dennis. I still have it somewhere but it is one of those sleeveless jobs that were popular at the time.

BW88 is great the way it is. I'm glad not every single BW solo record follows the same old Pet Sounds/Summer Days sound palette gone MOR or Adult Contemporary. That's why I also really like Orange Crate Art, despite its many flaws. It was different.
OCA should be re recorded if anything is. Lovely songs but too many of them suffer from the "Mickey Mouse with a sore throat" effect. Imagine the title cut resung by Brian in his current natural voice. Much better.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What is THE most underrated Brian Wilson song?

What is meant by "most underrated"? Almost an oxymoron the way it is being used in this thread. What makes a song under rated? That it should be rated higher? How about something like unappreciated gems or best low charting songs? Underrated could be any thing from TLGIOK to Still a Mystery. Most of LOS would qualify as largely undiscovered gems to the general public. I say take out the spoken word pieces and get it on the PA at the department stores and grocery chains. Do a creative rerelease and some PR. America needs to hear the best solo effort of it's greatest pop composer of the 2nd half of the 20 th century

Would have made a solid album track on the LDC record in '63, with a BW touch...
Would have made a solid track on That's Why God Made The Radio, which could've used a little more energy and a "group contribution" feel. Once again SJS, I second your opinion. Or else along with Goin to the Beach on MIC.

As Noven said, all the footage came from his own collection. None was wittingly supplied by BRI.
Someone explain to me why we're having this fucking stupid conversation, please.
well Andrew, as you said previously, we are omnipresent and impotent.....or something like that.....
