Poor Brian, he actually sounds rather "up" for a conversation, but Jonesy hasn't brought any enthusiasm to the proceedings has he? The plug was pulled on Indie 103.1 today, I'm sure Jonesy knew the station was on it's last legs and it sounds to me like he just checked out towards the end there. Don't let this interview fool you when he was "on" this was a great radio show, believe it or not.

I didn't (and don't) intend for this thread to be "spurious" - I had remembered the "Ganz allein" excerpt being on "Hawthorne" - I guess I was mistaken. Was it on the Endless Harmony soundtrack? I'm always confusing those two releases.
So let's clear things up! As I understand "In My Room" (German version) was on Rarities, it also appears on the Surfer Girl/Shut Down twofer. What album has just the "Ganz allein" excerpt on it?

Aformentioned (hilarious) hand-slapping edit aside, at least the four mentioned DVDs keep the focus on the band and the performance(s). Compare to the recent few Paul McCartney live DVDs for example and the endless cutaways to singing-along audience members. I want to see Brian and the band performing the music and all four of the DVDs do a good job of it, really it's not a big deal that they chose the best performance of each song.

Thank you Carrie! I happened to visit the Historical Monument this week on my way back from seeing Brian in Nevada, and was curious just how close they were able to get to the original location with the freeway covering it now. That Historic Aerials site is pretty cool, and you can swipe between different years to compare them; it's like a time machine. So it looks like technically the monument stands on the spot that was the front yard of the house across the street (119th) to the south, as close as possible with eastbound lanes of the 105 freeway squarely covering the site. Thanks again for the info!

I was there and this is not exactly true...some of the audience only lightly chuckled when he started listing the drugs he took one by one by name - it was a long(ish) list, hence the chuckles. But they were certainly not laughing AT him.

In my opinion the entire tracks are sped up. I brought them into Goldwave and through trial and error slowed them down until they sounded correct to my ear in terms of pitch and tempo.
Here's an example, "Slightly American Music' as it appeared on Landylocked and a slowed down version. My choice of speed was entirely subjective it just sounded "right" to my ears...
