On iTunes it is the full 4:33. Has anyone heard it played on the radio yet? It says "radio edit". Does anyone know if this shorter version is on the new CD? I've always enjoyed the song, but it was always a tad bit too long to warrant repeated listens in the car.

Combined are they Lucifer himself, or are they just his demonic angels? Seriously, Mike Love was being called out for things in the press by Dennis well before Melinda was around, and do you really think that he said about MIU, "That album is an embarressment, and should foda up Mike Love's karma forever," because of Leaf, or because he thought the albums sucked? Melinda and Leaf are devils. Everyone spoke highly of the Lovester until these two evil fucks came along. Look through all the literature on the BB in the 60s; look through all the literature on Dennis. Nothing. Everyone loves the Lovester. If it wasn't for Melinda and Leaf (and that equally evil money-grubbing dissenter Al Jardine) we'd have The Beach Boys again. Well, okay, Carl and Dennis are no longer with us, but you know what I mean. Of course, she can't run a tour and BW doesn't seem to have the last say about what he does... Maybe they mean that?

I thought it was just re-mixed. I remember watching Brian and Drew Barrymore in the studio on Entertainment Tonight, and them talking about it. Well, the song was re-recorded for the Drew Barrymore film NEVER BEEN KISSED which was released in '99. I assume the recording was done sometime in '98 which would put it right in line as a Joe Thomas production.

Since Desper thinks the finished track sounds similar to the one he recorded in 1971, is it possible that the Van Dyke Parks tape recording telling Brian to sit down and write a song was made as a put on to Warners? Meaning that the Beach Boys were trying to prove to Warners that Brian still "had it" by taking this song that was several years old and marketing it to Warners as a new product?
I thought of this today as I was mowing the lawn and listening to the Rodney Crowell outtake of Sail On Sailor from Stars and Stripes. I remember in the Stars and Stripes DVD that Carl asks Bruce a question about the backgrounds for Sail On Sailor. Bruce was out of the band by the time they supposedly recorded Sail On Sailor for Holland, and I don't think they played Sail On Sailor much live when Bruce was with the band, so why would Bruce know?
Just a thought.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the following bonus tracks from these albums without buying them as an import or in the case of the GIOMH track buying the whole thing from iTunes? I already own these albums, but do not have these bonus tracks. Is it possible to buy just the bonus tracks from somewhere?
The following Live At The Roxy Bonus Tracks: Wouldn't It Be Nice Help Me, Rhonda Fun Fun Fun
The following Pet Sounds Live Bonus Tracks: Friends Meant For You
The following GIOMH Bonus Track: Don't Worry Baby
Thanks, Matt

Maybe part of the idea of having Taylor on there was that he is known by a younger crowd, and people may have picked up the Dennis album because of Taylor and then been turned onto the Dennis tracks. If this whole "turning Dennis instrumentals into releasable songs with vocals" thing becomes a regular thing, I'd much rather someone more connected with the Beach Boys, like David Marks or Christian Love be singing the leads instead of Taylor Hawkins. I liked the way he sang on Holy Man, though.
When I was at WILSON restaurant last year for the release party, it was kind of weird standing on the patio with Carl B. Wilson and Justyn Wilson when Taylor Hawkins version of "Holy Man" came over the speakers
A bit surreal. I've always felt even though Taylor did a beautiful job that Carl B. should have been involved on that recording.

I don't get that either, especially since they were doing a decent amount of his songs at some shows. They could have at least used his lead on Help Me Rhonda. I'm sure this must have been discussed before, but why was Dennis snubbed on "In Concert," except for the cover photo?

I was at the Cincinnati show with a bunch of friends for the Buffett show. As we walked in the gates, I couldn't believe it when I saw Melinda riding in a golf cart. I yelled out, "Is Brian here?" and she smiled and said yeah. I was a very happy college kid.
At the Cincinnati show they did South American during the regular set & then Surfin USA during the encore.

They played Desert Drive when Paley was on tour with them. They would bring Paley out front for that song, I beleive on the Paul Simon tour. I remember seeing Brian play Desert Drive before recorded for GIOMH The GIOMH version of "DD" was recorded late 2002, and the earliest live performance I'm aware of (correction welcomed) is July 13th 2004 in Amsterdam, about a month after the album was released.
