Why Do Fools Fall in Love -man, Brian did SPECTOR better than Spector himself. Louie, Louie - boring.
Spector's Wall is very samey. Brian beat him by leaps & bounds. He created diverse interesting arrangements that differ song to song. Agree! Cool minds think alike. Check instead Richard Berry. Yeah. I personally like Spector stuff as much as BB stuff, but in terms of production BB is always better. Other examples where BB did Spector very well: "Be True To Your School", "Do You Wanna Dance", "In The Back of My Mind", "Let Him Run Wild", "Cabin Essence", "I Can Hear Music", "San Miguel", "Celebrate the News", "Just Once In My Life", "Sherry She Needs Me", to name a few. I didn't know about Richard Berry. Is he the same person as the one involved in "Louie Louie"? What are his major production/recordings? I'm curious because I'm always intrigued by good production

Another great album.
1. California Girls - great instrumentation 2. Let Him Run Wild - pre-ps Pure ps. 3. Help Me, Rhonda
4. You're So Good To Me 5. Girl from New York City - Brian's trippy backing vocal lift the song up 6. Salt Lake City 7. Then I Kissed Her - a bit better than the original 8. Girl Don't Tell Me 9. Amusement Parks, USA - always intrigued by the song concept, but the track itself is barely good.
10. Summer Means New Love 11. And Your Dreams Come True 12. I'm Bugged at the Ol' Man

I have a cd of the album, found it at Everyday Music in Seattle, it says something like "Millennium Edition" or something on it. I like most of it, even if it is overproduced. I feel it's the missing link in Brian's solo career. Hope it does get properly released someday, but i'm not holding my breath.
"Millennium Edition" is rumored to be made by a Japanese bootlegger among fans here. There are "Millennium Editions" also for SMiLE, Pet Sounds and Adult/Child. As for SI, I hope it gets released someday since it's entirely good stuff to my years, but I doubt it considering how much pain Landy gave Brian and how many songs are related deeply to that memory. That said, it might be released around 2039 to avoid letting the stuff sold by bootleggers legally.

When I first heard this album, I was initially overjoyed. I much preferred the production and sound of this as opposed to Imagination, which I hated immensely (still may be my least favorite BB solo album) As time moved on, the vocals and certain aspects of the production started to grate on me (the violins on "You Touched Me", for instance). Currently, I enjoy the album as an "official bootleg". As an actual album, not so much.
Same here. I liked it a lot initially, when I wasn't familiar with all those bootlegs, but I began to like it less and less as I listen to the album again and again and started to explore the bootleg recordings. What still irritates me is Brian's voice - The production is for me a bit rough but better than Imagination as you said, and needless to say the songs are mostly great, it really is a pity to see Brian ruin such stuff with his poor vocals. He sounds great again on later albums, so probably either recording another takes on vocals and featuring the back chorus of Brian's band all over would've helped it to be great as it should be.

Very spotty album; a few all-time classics & a few all-time throwaways.
Don't Worry Baby - classic. The Warmth of The Sun -another classic. Why Do Fools Fall in Love -man, Brian did SPECTOR better than Spector himself. Fun, Fun, Fun - this is also classic & fun.
In the Parkin' Lot - intrigued by the title somehow, overwhelmed by the thick chorus. Kinda reminds me of "Knowing When To Leave" by Burt Bacharach Keep an Eye On Summer This Car of Mine - Throwaway, but I like it better than I give a credit to. Pom Pom Play Girl
Shut Down, Part II - The riff being borrowed by Dylan surprised me, because I almost forgot how the song sounded. Cassius vs. Sonny Louie, Louie - boring. Denny's Drums

1. Spirit of America -sublime. THAT voice of Brian. 2. Ballad of Ole' Betsy -sublime, a highlight as well 3. Little Deuce Coupe 4. A Young My Is Gone -I always liked it better than any rendition of 'Their Hearts Were Full of Spring'. Very touching.
5. Custom Machine 6. No-Go Showboat 7. Car Crazy Cutie -Three pure fun tracks, you know.
8. Shut Down 9. Our Car Club 10. 409 11. Be True To Your School -single version is far better 12. Cherry, Cherry Coupe -don't know why it's often praised as if it's a hidden masterpiece. Lame.

1. Surfer Girl - my favorite BB song recorded the earliest 2. In My Room - love both the lyrics and the performance 3. Surfers Rule - mostly because I dig The Four Seasons 4. Hawaii - Always love it, it has some kind of 'youth cheerfulness' 5. Little Deuce Coupe - I never really give credit to this song, but this song always makes me happy 6. Catch a Wave 7. Our Car Club 8. Surfer Moon 9. Your Summer Dream 10. Boogie Woogie 11. The Rocking Surfer 12. South Bay Surfer - I remember being excited with this particular song when I got the album because I loved the original 'Old Folks at Home' This is a filler as it sounds like, but still more interesting than piano intro Old Folks at Home to Ol' Man River.

Not to stray too off topic, but am I the only one who much prefers the original "Sweet Insanity" version of "Make A Wish"?
I love it too, Brian's quirky great stuff. GIOMH version stinks by comparison because it goes on too long.
