Well, stupid thread but I am glad I saw the clip, it looked like Brian and Mike were both having fun.

went to google picures and put in mike love wife.

The woman he is dancing with is definitely her, though she looks far foxier in the other pictures. She looks a very foxy early forties. A lot of women that age are still young looking. Good for Mike!

haven§t they been applying some sort of trickery to their live vocals since the late sixties, some automatic live doubling, as guitarfool says. I listened to something on you tube from one of the shows last week and it didnt sound so much like autotune to me as it sounded like there were two Brians singing, one hitting the right note, one a little flat.

I like Bruce and I think he is very talented and the Beach Boys are lucky he joined but he has terrible ideas.

20 minute songwriting binges? That doesnt sound too manic, to be honest.

Unfortunately, I have doubts that the myth will ever die. Look at the Hoffman board and you will find that myth repeated time and time again on various BB threads, and the disbelief when people are set right  there is discouraging. Many people plainly can't deal with that myth being taken down, maybe because it somehow upsets some sort of hierarchial vision of sixties music or something.

Vocals on GIOMH are bad in a different way. Like I said, though, the songs on SI are actually pretty good, most of them. In my opinion. Just don't like his voice 85-95, too shouty and it sounds like he had sinus problems, or as if his voiced had changed and he wasn't accepting it.

Could someone please Help Me Rhonda?

(just a joke. I'm optimistic that the album will be listenable.)

More autotune. Please.

How dare a so-called fan partake in illicit substances at a rock show?

Dammit, rules are rules. Smiley

most of the Sweet Insanity album has pretty awful singing. I actually have grown to love most of the songs on that album, but the singing put me off of it for years.

Somebody did mention hey little tomboy. For me SDT's lyrics only fail at the end. It's just kind of a lame ending, lyrically speaking. I mean, the whole concept of do a cover of a classic with different lyrics is pretty lame(though worked on Surfin' USA, lightning doesn't strike twice) but it's a rockin' track. Tree is awesome, one of my top twenty, I also like Michael row your boat, I think it is very well produced, sort of son of Sloop John B I wish there was a better sounding way to hear it.

Re Sandy. From the Summer Days... sessions.

Was the song never completed, as the sessions i have suggest? How come Brian abandoned it? Seems like it would've made for a lovely track.
I think it was never completed, until the seventies. No idea why it was abandoned. Agreed it would have been an awesome addition to SDSN.

what about Kono Coast or Rock and roll music. rock an roll music sounds like the aural equivalent of an old alcoholic's stale body odor after having pissed himself countless times. but that's just me. Or that Loop-de-Loop Christmass song.

Aw. Hes a cutie!
295  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Worst Beach Boy Song on: April 28, 2012, 12:51:07 AM
Yeah, a lot of these songs are pretty good. I even think passing friend is ok, certainly there are worse. Make it Big annoys me. Happy Endings is pretty cheesy. Summer of Love and the Surfin' cover on SIP. Lady Liberty has no real reason to exist.

Definitely Tears in the Morning is the first to go in my fantasy correction of this so-called list.

I don't have 99 cents to piss away on something I'm going to get in better quality and "show my support" in a couple months. I don't even especially enjoy the idea of supporting paying a dollar for something that's lossy. Sorryz Cry

No need to judge ^_^ If I were on here begging like a bitch for it, then you might have a case.

We're all team players here, right? I thought the general effect of the Beach Boys music was to make one feel more relaxed and at one with the world.
It is, as long as the world doesn't involve other people.

I like it.
299  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: April 27, 2012, 04:14:11 AM
Well then that certainly wouldn't explain his SOUTH BAY, LOS ANGELES ACCENT!
Right, because accents are irrevocably fixed by age 7.  LOL

I just don't understand how people are saying you can hear David in the song because of his distinct accent. Shouldn't Brian/Carl/Dennis have the same accent?
Well, Brian and Dennis definitely have an LA accent when they sing, Carl not so much, in my opinion. As far as David, personally, I can't pick him out at all. But I've only listened to the song twice. All I can hear is Brian Wilson and Foskett.

What "Los Angeles accent".  There's no Los Angeles accent.
Yes, there is. IBut you know, I've always thought Mike Love has a different accent than the Wilson brothers. More twangy.
