No take - just one musicians opinion of Bruce Johnston.

Posted on singer/songwriter/musician/all round good guy Glen Burtnik's Facebook page today (after opening for the Beach Boys last night):

"GLEN'S A.D.D. THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY: I just had an amazing week. To live life you must encounter idiots and assholes. But Bruce Johnston is a gentleman. As of yesterday my beloved Sally is 22. I'm flying to Berlin today. And if you never see me again, I love you."

Mine was refunded too.  Too bad, would have liked to seen the footage. Maybe there wasn't enough interest to keep the project afloat.

Al did in fact sing lead on WIBN with Jeff and the chorus of Break Away, Tons of harmony too. He also sang half of Sloop John B.

Just got home - great show, not at all abbreviated. David sang Little Bird and Summertime Blues, they did Ol' Man River into Cottonfields. Reall great show, even if BW was a bit out of it. Too tired for details, but the band didn't disappoint.

At the show. Great seats, third row on the Nicky side. David has already reared his head a couple of times.

Brian hasn't done any of it, but Van Dyke Parks has. You can find it on his "Moonlighting" album.

I will be at the July 20th show in Atlantic City.

Maybe they'll let Dave sing Getcha Back as well. I'd love to hear Heroes & Villains with Al on the verses and Brian on the chorus, but I don't see that as a realistic possibility.

It's not necessarily "Good Vibrations"-related but I for one am planning on hanging a (as sizable as possible) framed print of the 1976 Rolling Stone cover (featuring Brian in bathrobe with surfboard) as soon as I have my own own place (and not live in digs, as they say).





That being said you might find some decent stuff if you search for concert promo posters of Brian's (earlier) solo gigs. There were some real funky ones.

I've had this hanging in my bathroom for years now. I just framed the entire issue. I got it on ebay for $10-$15.

I just bought tickets for the casino show in Atlantic City on July 20th. I pray it is not too beneath them to play such a venue.

I was tempted (since they haven't announced a date closer to me), but those ticket prices are outrageous!

I bought the $55 tix, but with all the fees, it came to $72. I got 4th row, section F, so center stage and fairly close too.

I went for broke and got the $85 plus fee seats. Section c, 3rd row.

I can't overstate how impressive this mix is. Looking forward  to hearing what you have on deck.

It looks like the "Icon" series is a Capitol budget Greatest Hits line. They seem to be releasing some by their Contemporary Christian artists as well as Everclear and some other bands.

My girlfriend would shoot me if I stated mixing SMiLE again! I spent several years on that one, obsessively tweaking it and replacing parts with better-quality versions. It's a worm hole I'm better off not crawling back into. Glad you guys like it, though. I am pretty proud of it.

Just got power back - been out since Monday night. Tree fell on the neighbors house, another one in front of my driveway, still another downed the power lines. We handled the neighbor and the driveway ourselves Tuesday morning, but had to wait until today for the one on the power lines. A nice crew of guys from southern Illinois came out and dealt with that. Got off much easier than the coastal towns and barrier islands. Most of the places I spent my childhood summers seem to be completely destroyed. Still not sure when I will be back to work. The kids are thrilled about the extra week off of school, though.

Definitely get Sunflower. The tape generation is lower than that of any previous release sans the 2009 vinyl (which uses the same source) and the difference is noticeable.

OK, that's enough to persuade me to go back there at lunch! A little OT but I'm going to get the ELO remastered Best Of too

Aegir-I completely agree-as I said, Smiley Smile is a complete revelation. Oh, and the guitar in Do You Wanna Dance? is great

Would anyone be able to inform me of the tracklisting for the 2-CD bootleg: The Beach Boys - Our Favourite Recordings (the cd with the band turning into cartoon animals on the cover - Al is a duck, Mike a dog, etc)? Or at least somewhere where i can find out the tracklisting. I've looked on all the usual sites and can't seem to find reference to it anywhere. Thanks!
