Here's the song:

Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne is the Executive Music Producer for this show. I would guess he's a Beach Boys fan.

I know that this doesn't have anything to do with the subject of this thread, but since it's a Beatles question I thought I'd just throw it in here. I hope guitarfool2002 doesn't mind. My question is about the version of Please Please Me on the "Introducing The Beatles" album. Has this particular version of the song, with a lyric flub from John, ever been officially released on cd? If not, is this the only Beatles "rarity" that is to this day not readily available?

The US Album "The Early Years" has this mix.

Brian appears to have been pretty hands on with the writing of this book.

Couldn't make out most pre-show songs played. But in the last two shows attended I heard "Guess I'm Dumb".
Awesome!  Smiley

They are rehearsing this during sound check?

No -just playing it over the PA before the show starts.

A better question would be how the book compares to WIBN '91

It is infinitely better then WIBN. That book always seemed cheap and tawdry to me. Like a Kitty Kelly biography. This has none of that, and will probably not be a huge seller for that reason.

Finished the book over the weekend. Like I said, it's not really a "revelation" kind of book. For the casual fan there may be some new information, but people like me who have pored over Brian Wilson interviews for years will be familiar with the stories. This wasn't disappointing, it was exactly what I expected. It's a fun, quick read, and I recommend it without reservation.

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda hope nobody shares anything until the book is released. I'd like its contents to be at least something of a surprise.

No worries - if there are spoilers you won't get them from me. Not even his favorite New York pizza spot.

"Revealing" is not a word I would use to describe the book thus far. Which isn't to say I'm not enjoying it,  I am. It's interesting to read stories that have been told for years filtered through Brian Wilson's unique perspective.

Would you care to give us those passages about Scott? Just so we know what has actually been written

He's just been mentioned along with other band members occasionally. But there hasn't been anything about That Lucky Old Sun yet.

How many pages?  Any previously unseen photos included?

284 pages. It's a review copy, so no photos at all.

I'm around 100 pages in. No big revelations, but it's a compelling read. It really capture's Brian's voice. Not a linear narrative - lots of tangents and circling back.

And at least three references to Scott Bennett that will probably not make the final cut.

Doobie Brothers "What a Fool Believes" now. My only exposure to them was through their Diff'rent Strokes episode.

It was What's Happening that they were on. Rerun got caught trying to bootleg their concert. I am somewhat sad that I remember that. Also somewhat proud.

Why hasn't anybody made a mash-up of "Wind Chimes" and "Can't Wait Too Long"? They would go great together!

They did. It's on this: http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php?topic=8859.0

The "guest appearance" by Red was actually his flown in pedal steel part - done as a loving tribute.  The current guitar/mandolin/lap steel wizard on stage is Chris Scruggs.

"Four Pet Sounds classics followed, including the instrumental title track, on which Nick Walusko reclaimed the lead guitar part that had been taken away from him on last year’s Beach Boys reunion tour. "

David Marks, a real BB , played it last year; why do I want to here Nick play it when a BB is standing right there?

...I can sort of see why any-Beach-Boy is better than a non-Beach-Boy, but...  isn't this a bit like complaining that they don't get Blondie Chaplin to sing "Little Deuce Coupe"?

David didn't actually have anything to do with the original song.  Having him play it at the 50th was lovely, yes, but it's not really a question of authenticity...

Cheers,
Jon Blum

Not for nothing - but didn't a non-Beach Boy (Jerry Cole) play it to begin with?

Does anyone know some good websites for free or cheap Beach Boys sheet music for beginners?

If you're looking for guitar or bass, there are tabs here:

Non-musical query: I wonder what is the reason behind wearing a headgear. Fashion or health-related, i.e. sth. wrong with his head so Nick needs to keep it warm?

I figured it was the same reason Mike Love wears headgear.

Teresa Cowles (awesome bass player from Adam Marsland's Chaos band) is playing Carol Kaye...
