1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Happy Birthday Carl!!!!!!!!! on: December 21, 2012, 09:34:27 AM
Sure everyone already knows but I didn't see a thread about so thought I'd start one to wish Carl a happy 66th (where does the time go?). Anyways Happy Birthday Carl, we love and miss you  angel
2  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Dennis Wilson's 68th Birthday Today on: December 04, 2012, 11:46:50 AM
Happy Birthday Surfer Boy!!! I'm sure he would've enjoyed this year more than anyone. Never be another like him

4  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Naming kids after the Beach Boys on: July 13, 2012, 11:28:31 PM
When I was 17 I decided if I ever had kids and had more than one boy (1st one would get David for my pap & dad) I would name it Dennis Carl. I also decided at some point I wanted to have dogs named Banana & Louie Grin

Really great to see that  Smiley
7  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What's your favorite Beach Boys compilation to listen to? Pick one disc... on: June 25, 2012, 11:43:11 PM
The Warmth of the Sun because it reignited my love for them (and started a totally unhealthy obsession Grin). Plus I think this comp on it's own could turn casual fans into more serious ones. All in all, a great bridge from hits to rarities
8  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Jones Beach conversation with Brian on: June 25, 2012, 11:20:20 PM
I am so, so glad to hear is doing so well Grin
9  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: HAPPY 70th, BRIAN!! on: June 19, 2012, 09:30:29 PM
It's 12:30 here, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!!!! Thanks for an especially incredible year of music so far Grin

LOL This thread just made my day!!!
11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Saddest Beach Boys Song :/ on: May 24, 2012, 10:51:09 PM
There's a handful that I love, but mess me up every time I hear them. The first song that came to mind was "All Alone". For me it's right up there with He Stopped Loving Her Today & some of the old Hank Williams songs as the most deeply depressing (yet greatest) songs I've ever heard. I know, technically solo Dennis, but I figured I could include it since the first time I heard it / it was officially released was on the Endless Harmony soundtrack

Also:
Their Hearts Were Full of Spring
A Young Man Is Gone
(already mentioned, but) The Warmth of the Sun
Auld Lang Syne
Spirit of America (it's just sad to me, not sure why)

The ending of "When I Grow Up to Be a Man" gets me every time too as being so melancholic, "won't last forever", and all that.

Forgot about that one, but 100% agree with you.

Me too, & I always thought I was the only one who thought "it's kind of sad", lol

If you include outside projects I would have to go with "I Wish for You".
Totally with you, that one came to my mind as well
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: California Saga - The next generation on: May 24, 2012, 08:08:54 PM
Great!! That's too cool, just wish they had got the ball rolling prior to the tour so they could have opened for their dads (on all the dates). I would've loved to seen them Grin

Also, I thought Wilson Phillips was trying to make their comeback, so how's that gonna work?
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Playable moog on Google front page! on: May 22, 2012, 09:39:50 PM
Just noticed that too! Took me a while to figure out you can record it & play it back, lol
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Interview with Dr Demento 1973!!! on: May 13, 2012, 10:58:54 PM
Sounds great!!!! Thanks for sharing, can't wait to hear Listening I was at the Benedum show too, AMAZING Grin I haven't been able to sleep since (or the night before) either, lol
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Which Beach Boys song has grown on you the most? on: May 12, 2012, 11:23:43 PM
The Trader. I never hated it, just didn't really listen to it (ironic since I've always been way into Native American stuff). Now I love it. One of Carl's finest, imho
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson meets Daffy Duck? on: May 12, 2012, 10:17:28 PM
Wow LOL I was feeling super bummed today that the BB show I got to go to was over, but that totally made me laugh. Brian with the Looney Tunes, whodathunk?!?! Thanks for sharing Smiley
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: June 2 Billboard Mag is Beach Boys Special Issue on: May 05, 2012, 09:11:35 PM
Cool!! I usually miss stuff like this (especially magazine stuff), so thanks for sharing Smiley
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What was the first song you heard from the Beach Boys? (the first you remember!) on: April 22, 2012, 10:31:46 PM
Technically not the first one I ever heard, but the first to leave an impression was Fun, Fun, Fun when I was about 4 (which now that I think about it probably explains my obsession with Thunderbirds Grin )
19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Wilson Phillips \ on: April 22, 2012, 10:23:28 PM
I've been watching the show (if only for any mention of their dad or uncles & the extremely off chance Brian happens to make an appearance LOL). I like the girls and think they're talented, but was utterly disturbed by the fact that Wendy (who's technically old enough to MY mother) didn't know the words to one of her own dad's most famous songs. Seriously?! My 6 year old cousin even knows all the words to Wouldn't It Be Nice Roll Eyes I love Wendy, but that was pathetic
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / I Just Wasn't Made For These Times on Mad Men on: April 22, 2012, 08:28:56 PM
Not sure if anyone else saw it, but the new episode of Mad Men had I Just Wasn't Made For These Times playing (small SPOILER ALERT) during Roger's LSD trip. I don't know know about everyone else, but I've totally been waiting for a BB's song since the show started Grin
21  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Sad news about The Bands' Levon Helm on: April 21, 2012, 10:20:01 PM
I was all broken up over Dick Clark, and then I heard about Levon Cry Just horrible. I've adored him for as long as I can remember. When you lose people you've admired so much and for so long it really feels like losing family.  Not only a huge loss because of the human being and enormous talent he was, but because the Band's last voice has been silenced. I can't see a bright side in situations like this, but at least him, Rick, and Richard (& their amazing sound) are together again. Maybe they're even jamming with Dennis & Carl tonight angel
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carl on: February 19, 2012, 09:43:11 PM
Ugh, the Crocodile Rock video Embarrassed I had felt bad for Carl many times before, but my heart just broke for him there. He always gave his all, even at that, but his heart did not seem into it (which we should probably be thankful for someone keeping their sanity). But I have to admit I've gotten much pleasure out of imaging what Dennis would've done (to Mike) had he walked onto that set (or any number of things that happened after he was gone) LOL

This is just my feelings, but I've always thought that when Dennis died, and Brian out of the picture, it was just a losing battle for Carl. It was 3 against 1 (if you count Bruce, and wasn't whoever was speaking for Brian siding with the Mike/Al faction in the late 70s as well? Shocked). He had to be cringing partaking in so much of that shtick & cheesiness that was the '80s & '90s. I've always felt he stayed so there would still be some of that credibility that only a Wilson presence could bring to the band, and so not all of their previous work would be exploited. You gotta hand it to him, that boy certainly had to grow up quick and put up with a lot in his lifetime.

Poor Carl Cry Probably the last person on this planet that should have ever been arrested.
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 50th Anniversary Tour Dates (as they roll out) (*UPDATED, Feb 15th*) on: February 17, 2012, 11:21:27 PM
YAY!!!! May 11th can't come soon enough Grin

But my aunt found some site that says the first 40 rows are already sold out (scalpers??) (& the tickets don't officially go on sale til the 27th), anyone know if this is legit?? I'll cry if it is
The Benedum holds some tickets for members and offers the seats to them first..Fortunately i am a member! Don't know if this is the reason though.

I've bought tickets from the Cultural Trust before (so I have an account with them), but (and this may sound really stupid) can I become a member? If so, how? I'd sell almost everything I own for good seats to this concert!
Than you should be on thier mailing list and if not i'll let you know if i get something.

Okay, thank you Smiley
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Meet And Greets? on: February 17, 2012, 11:13:10 PM
So does this mean all the front row (& then some) seats are gonna be reserved for these packages Huh I would love to meet Brian (though I'd probably be more awkward in that situation than him, given I didn't faint first Embarrassed), but it's just not gonna happen. $300 for couple good tickets will be a stretch, so I hope they're not all reserved (fingers crossed!!!)

BTW, anyone happen to know why certain dates (ie Pittsburgh) aren't listed on the vip nation site?
