Listening with headphones, you can actually hear which vocals came from the demos and which were newly-recorded. This is most apparent on "Southern California" which features the demo lead on the first and third verse (I think) and a new vocal for the second verse and bridge. I think Scott Bennett sang the demo for SoCal though. I would be interested to know exactly which vocals were newly cut at the Capitol Studios. I think the title track must be one.

"Melt Away" To me it's easily Brian's best solo song (besides "Caroline No" and the BWPS Smile songs). Was this a single in '88? If so, why wasn't it a hit?
Landy, Landy, Landy. If there had been proper promotion, no Landy controversy and a big push "Meet Me in My Dreams Tonight" b/w "Melt Away" by Brian Wilson could've gotten into the top 10. Really?

I love Cuddle Up, but for me there is something about the chorus that lets the rest of the song down. I dunno but it just doesn't live up to the beauty of the goregeous string and piano middle section and the background vox of the second verse 'The night...(aaah)'. Although now it is hard to imagine it any other way, I wonder how a more um 'restrained' chorus would have worked. A Day In The Life Of A Tree: This song has one of the best melodies I've ever heard. It's beautiful, yet sad. It fits perfectly with the lyrics. This also has probably the most magnificent fade of any song I've ever heard.
I love that to and have said before I think that fade is every bit as heartbreaking if not more than that of Til I Die. Sam

I'm not trying to start anything, but has anyone confirmed or denied if Brian's vocals on TLOS were autotuned? A lot of things new albums released use it, even if the ears can't detect it through the instrumentation.
I don't know about the final product, but I think I remember reading a quote from perhaps Scott that no autotune was used on the original demos and some of the vocals of the final product were lifted straight from the demos I believe.

unlike Wild Honey which is very dry, limited production, compact, clean, sober themes. Yes they use organ and harpsichord in places, but every '60's band was doing that whether they were psych or not. In my opinion WH is actually one of the least Psychedelic BB's records in the '66 to '69 period...certainly Good Vibrations, Heroes and Villains, Smile, Friends, and 20/20 have more Psychedelic auras than WH.
Would you not call Friends 'dry, limited production...' etc ? I wouldn't say it has much more of a psychedelic aura than WH?
