Well its obvious they believed in lp at the time cause i saw them  play half dozen songs from this + the live versions were BETTER than lp versions.. 1992 Costa Mesa....Summer in Paradise was in the set list till CW died...Do they still play it..??..I can listen to it BUT.. It needs a couple of Al + Carl songs + drop a couple of oldies....Im one that doesnt hate the lp.. Its just average to me...

Well.. i bought that around the same time 88 BW solo cd came out....On Rhino..U.S. release..Havent seen it since..Everytime i go in music store..1st section i check out is BB ..Its rare..What its worth dont know..

JEEZ.. After reading all your thoughts its amazing how diverse our experiences are... And im old as dirt..!!..1st time i heard BB.. Spring 62.. Santa Monica Beach..CA..Heard Surfin ..S safari...409..Im 9 1/2 yrs old...By spring of 63..Susa + shut down are hits..Im still not buying records yet..My mom"s collection was Country + Teen Idols + novelty records..The HIPPEST thing on the radio was BB..Jan + Dean..4 Seasons..Summer of 63.. 1st record i EVER bought...WAS...Surfer Girl LDC..Its over with me now.. A lifelong OBSESSION with music..! Begged my uncle for a guitar.. Went down to Mcarthur park ..{LA}
He bought a KAY f hole acoustic guitar.. 26.00 !!..Lotta money back then..!!..Then joined school band ..Learned drums..From that point on i bought every BB single + played on my one speaker record player.. Lip synching in my room in front of a mirror pretending to BE..The BB..LOL...!!!.. Every holiday i asked for BB albums as gifts + got them all.. My favorite time period was when 64 hit + all the singles had PIC SLEEVES.. The race was on ..Beatles + BB..!!...The first BB lp that hit me over the head that i didnt skip tracks was..All Summer Long..The previous lp"s had some filler.. Pic sleeve to I Get Around + DWB hit me hard.. These were guys from my neighbour hood...And my obsession for the harmonies has driven me nuts all these years..ANGELS..!!..In late 60"s to early 70's i took TONS of flack for BB music..What turned the tide was ..Surfs Up lp..I remember being at my friends older brothers house..He never talked to me..to young ..The lights were low + smokin herb..Big brother owns Surfs up lp but im not aware of it.. He puts this on + plays it + the whole room goes REAL Quiet..Everone in room is trippin on the sounds.. Thats the lp that turned the fence sitters into fans..After that nite i NEVER took flack for BB music..i cant name my favorites too many for here..Plus it shifts from mood..I will say that when i get down inside..BB music lifts me up + takes the pain away for awhile.. BW 88 solo lp played on my stereo for months..Went thru a terrible divorce.. I just hope when things get down ..the BB have their own music to listen + escape...Cause the roughest times in my life the BB soundtrack kept me sane...Paul

I think there is more truth in that movie that anyone of us would ever care to admit.... But i dont think BW was as wacked
out as portrayed..Just different or ahead of the curve.. But then again BW did dig his own grave in his backyard then claimed it was just a joke..!!.. Who really knows..??..Just the insiders.. We should just focus on the great music they made..We ALL have ghosts in the closet...

There is no doubt Mike + all the bb got some cash..Al lives on the same ranch he bought in 74-75..Right..?/ its gotta be paid off by now.. No rent to pay..!!...If you wrote one song like.. Stairway to heaven or Free Bird..You could live all your life
on songwriter royalties from that one song..Those 2 songs get played on classic rock radio..Everyday.. On every radio station in the world that plays that music...I dont think they need food stamps...LOL..!!

YEP..You convey your thoughts well..Well written from the heart.. I remember when it first came out..Pet Sounds.. I loved the record but some songs i didnt understand.. Wasnt old enough to relate.. But i kept playing it.. I do remember that i avoided the 2 instrumentals  + Dont Talk + IJWMFTT.....Remember Im in Junior high school..The rest was great..!!!.. Grew to love the rest later.. In fact.. I REALLY grew to love the instrumentals. When i saw them performed LIVE...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..
My favorite on the lp is You Still Believe in me...Spiritual song..The lyrics convey feelings that could be expressed to a girl or GOD.. Touches my heart DEEP...!!...I Think... People that are emotional..heartfelt.. tender..Open minded GET..Pet Sounds.. And we know most of the world isnt like that.. An lp like Pet Sounds gives me hope for a better world.. You have to have deep feelings to REALLY understand ..Pet Sounds....IMHO...

I just googled name of band.. they have a myspace site.. Interesting info..i believe that the guitar player is the new guy in Al Jardine"s band + billy Hinsche jams with them..guitar player"s name is jared..they sound really good.... As far as many tribute bands doin BB music.. Not aware of that.. Never hear of tribute bands here in California.. In fact just gettin a bunch of guys together to play + sing Bb music isnt easy..My experience with it is..Most people dont feel they can do it justice...But thats just my experience..

I have to admit i like reading + discussing anything about BB.. Im In deep for concert recordings + videos + unreleased stuff.. But ill admit i own the SOT stuff but dont listen that much except the Pet + Smile stuff.. Hearing the same song over + over slowly changing gets boring after awhile.... Completed studio recordings is different.. I am so taken by BB ..In the early 70"s when i found out BW wore bowling shoes like tennis shoes.. I went down + got me a pair myself.. How weird is that..LOL...?...!!!!!!!!!!11 ..

We all know about..Papa Doo Run Run .Bel air Bandits..Surf city all stars..Well I just discovered by accident a new band doin BB material..They are called..Good Vibrations..I went up to Laughlin Nevada to promo my band = make some real money.. While there i got a magazine that lists all the upcoming gigs.. Good Vibrations was mentioned ..Playin there in August..Anybody know who these guys are..??

I find this track AMAZING + the grand Coolie part gives me chills.. Seeing it performed live was something else ..the whole floor rumbled + when they get to the coolie part it sounded like angels.. 04=05 tours
