Once last word before I bid you all farewell.
Craig, you are the most overbearing, blowhard, bellend I have ever come across.
Debbie, Brian dumped your saggy ass decades ago- move on.
Rab, NPP is still a big steaming pile of dogshit.
Billy, have fun in your sheltered accomodation, loser.

See you all under my next alias
MB.

I misspell a word and this makes me someone else??
Maybe you should post that in the conspiracies thread.
This has gone beyond the bizarre.

I've been told by someone that several insiders now stay away from this board because they consider GF to be a bad mod.

I've been told things about several insiders too. We should compare notes.

Are these insiders moderating a BB's msg board?

No, doing other things insiders do.

What I would like to bring up is something a few of us mod types were kicking around in conversation, just loose talk and idle chatter like workers grabbing a soda and snack in the break room during a long shift.

Some things came up in those chats like which of the newer registered members could be "Mike's Beard", who had been banned in late December and then bragged on the Hoffman board prior to it being locked down how he managed to evade the ban, re-register on this forum under a new account and alias, and use IP masking tools in order to get back in under the ban.

It was kicked around, just casual conversation, no big deal.

You wouldn't happen to have any opinions on that, would you Mike's Beard... oops, I meant opinions on Mike's Beard, would you? Sorry for the slip of the tongue.

Just asking. Grin
#1- I'm not whoever this mike's beard guy is.
#2 - Whatever you may or may not know about insiders has nothing to do with the word that you have driven some of them away from this board.

Just watched this - particularly like the way AGD introduces himself and tells the host of his passion for our heroes...
Ironically, they asked him a Monkees related question!

Imagine my surprise when turning on the TV this evening to see AGD is on the gameshow "The Chase"! Go AGD!!!

This new review is even funnier than the first!!  LOL LOL LOL LOL
9  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Scott Bennett discussion thread on: May 11, 2016, 09:50:14 PM
This is getting absurd, people are arguing both sides of the coin based on a short article that used only a couple of damming quotes from the prosecuting attorney.
Without access to the full court transcripts nobody here knows exactly what went down. Presuming the defense team did their job correctly, every aspect to prove Scott didn't willfully rape the lady in question would have been discussed and scrutinized thoroughly during the trial and the jury still reached the verdict that he did.

I never thought I'd use the words No Pier Pressure and great in the same sentence but Judd and Bubs made a great thread here. Very entertaining.

This thread will go on and on, nobody is going to admit to any wrong doing. It's futile.
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Awesome New Mike Love Article!! on: February 15, 2016, 09:19:23 AM
Mike's hangup is that after finally getting his due from songs Brian chose not to credit him on years ago, he now has to listen to people claim that he 'stole' credits from Brian. Reguardless of how mentally ill somebody is, cheating someone is still cheating.

I think it would be great if Trump made president.
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Rocky Pamplin book about The Beach Boys? on: February 03, 2016, 09:48:04 AM
I have to admit that's my favorite version of "California Feeling" ... Sounds the most BW-produced. I have a vinyl bootleg copy.

I've had it for years on Get The Boot. I never knew it was Rocky singing, you sound rather good Rock! I also much prefer this arrangement to the MIC versions.
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Don Henley/Mike Love on: January 24, 2016, 05:01:01 AM
Glenn Frey is the Mike Love of The Eagles.

Perfect analogy.  I couldn't agree more.   My sentiments exactly.      His rants against former band mate s over the years, firing and damning his band mates,   Arrogantly going forward singing his prized little favorite tunes and raking in the money.........

Except that Love carries on without Wilson and in the Eagles case Frey did not carry on without Henley. Frey and Henley both fired Felder and Frey and Henley both carried on singing and raking in money. As they should--they wrote and sang the songs. It would be akin to Love and Wilson firing Blondie Chaplin (non original expert guitarist) and continuing to carry on the band.

Still not a perfect analogy as Chaplin didn't write the BB's most well known song. Felder on the other hand was the main guy behind Hotel California.

Out of a population of 65 million or so, about 600,000 signed the petition. So the vast majority of the population has no problem with Trump visiting or simply doen't care either way.

OK 2016, I think you've taken enough legends for one year.
RIP Glenn.
18  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: The H8ful Eight thoughts (spoilers within) on: January 12, 2016, 09:03:09 AM
I enjoyed it but won't be rushing to see it again anytime soon. FAR too overlong. QT seems to love his dialogue to the point of being totally unwilling to edit down scenes. There was a great 90 minute movie hidden in there.
Acting wise - Goggins, Russell and Jason-Leigh were fantastic, Samuel L Jackson was just Samuel L Jackson and Madsen was rubbish as usual.
19  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens on: January 12, 2016, 08:52:56 AM
The friends I went to see the film with aside, I have yet to talk to anyone in the 'real' world who doesn't consider this film to be really good.
As far as modern blockbusters go I found it to be stunningly average with most of it's main plotpoints just a blatant rip off of A New Hope. I fully expect the next installment to be called 'The First Order Strikes Back' and for it to open on Hoth.

The thing which kinda almost maybe redeems 1 for me is the Darth Jar Jar theory. If you havent, look it up on Reddit and there are many Youtube videos as well. Basically the theory is Jar Jar was a Sith lord who conspired to lead the Jedi to Anakin. Im not gonna go into all the evidence, but there actually is a lot. If you read the original Reddit post and comments (which add things the original poster missed) it makes a lot of sense even tho Im sure it sounds like a lame joke to you now. The idea is, there was going to be a twist in 2 where Jar Jar reveals himself--akin to the big I am your Father reveal in 5. But the backlash against Jar Jar was SO great that either Lucas abandoned the idea for fear of alienating fans more, or else someone else FINALLY stepped in and said "No George, bad idea" (which shouldve happened about 100 times during Episode 1's production) because they feared having him be prominent in 2 again would kill box office returns since he was so despised. The actor who played Jar Jar has confirmed this theory on Twitter, fwiw. He also confirmed extensive rewrites to the later 2 prequels because of the backlash.
So it's no longer just an urban internet myth? The guy who voiced Jar Jar really has confirmed that Lucas planned to turn him evil for esp2 and 3?
Mind blown.

Very sad news, first Lemmy and now David. We've all lost a hero.
22  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Great Seventies Movies on: January 07, 2016, 11:57:44 PM
I saw it mentioned already, but its worth mentioning again

Jaws

My favorite movie of all time.  Great writing.  Great acting.  Great music score.  Brilliant directing.  Great pacing.  If a movie like this were made today, it would likely be a bloody / CGI mess.

Brody would be a young hunk with a troubled teenage emo daughter, Hooper would be a hawt women who has to prove herself to the guys and Quint would be a badass black guy.
As it was, Hooper was a hawt guy who had to prove himself to the guys!

Hooper may have felt he had to prove himself to Quint who outright didn't respect his educated background, but Hooper was mildly condescending to Brody for his lack of understanding about sharks. Once on the Orca both he and Quint treated Brody like he was little help, so it was Brody who had to prove himself. I still think the Brody/Quint/Hooper character dynamic is the greatest cinematic achievement from a writer/actor point of view.

The Parallax View. Creepy 70s paranoia at its finest.
The Sorcerer. William Friedkin's best film.
The Conversation. Already mentioned.
Jaws. A film I can watch over and over.
Dirt Harry. Portrays life on the streets in all it's 70s grimy glory.
