Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Bruce....married or divorced?

I believe he may be currently separated from his wife.
I read that on one site only. As someone else said, it's his business and I agree. I found him to be a kind, welcoming Beach Boy at a concert we went to. He came over, chatted with us for quite some time and did not hit on my beautiful 29 year old daughter which most men do. That tells me he has his wife or someone in his life but again, not my business. What I don't get is, Bruce told us he has 5 children. I have never read about anything other than about him having 4 sons. Watching the Campfire on you tube, they were adorable young boys and apparently are successful young men. I have a lot to say about my four children, one earns double what the family earned in our best days in her upper 20's (both 6 figures) and yes we're ever so proud of her, proud of all of them. So a father or mother speaking proudly about their children isn't uncommon. If he wants to talk about his wife or anyone else, he will. He isn't shy.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: From 1984: Mike Talks About Dennis

There's no question that the relationship between Love and Dennis Wilson as stressful. "There was definitely conflict," Love said. "The conflict was, 'Hey, Dennis, perhaps you shouldn't give cocaine to Brian.' Yeah, he did that a couple of times. And so to protect Brian, my brother Stan formed a two-man vigilante committee and proceeded to beat Dennis to a pulp. My brother's about 6-foot-8, 6-foot-9, a professional basketball payer. And unfortunately, they had a slight altercation..." Love laughed.
Love's words would be a lot more credible if he didn't spin his comments like this one. The fundamental conflict between Mike and Dennis was NOT based in that one reckless act by Dennis(ie giving cocaine to Brian), That is just an inflammatory statement, it is completely ridiculous to make it in relation to the context of Dennis' death...and conveniently a dead Dennis can't answer it or confront Mike for saying it. One thing Mike knows well, despite all the flaws in his person, Dennis fought his own fights. Statements like the one above give the impression that Mike waits until its safe to fight his. You're right in my opinion. Also, from the beginning of The Beach Boys, Love was jealous of Dennis because the girls and women that liked Dennis and it took away from some of the attention Mike Love received. That's how it all began but he leaves that part out of course.

Smiley Smile Stuff / Concert Reviews / Re: Beach Boys in Montclair, NJ - 4-19-2015

I was at the same concert in Montclair, NJ April 19th of this year. My adult daughter had work connections for free tickets and meet and greet passes. We never went into the meet and greet for personal reasons but sat at the only tiny high top table in the lobby before the concert began.
Over comes Bruce Johnston to the tiny table. I have to say I was very impressed with Bruce and how he treated both of us, with class and tons of information I didn't know. He was kind, informative and once knowing certain family information, showed concern for my husband, a 911 Rescue and Recovery Port Authority P.O. for 2 years post 9/11 when he retired earlier than planned (30 years on the job). As for Bruce, IMO he's a class act, told us about his Grammy in 1976 for "I Write The Songs" (which I was unaware of.) He took our meet and greet passes sitting on the table, signed them w/o us asking and chatted with us until it was time for him to head to the stage.
A nice job but it isn't the same without Brian and Al Jardine being quite frank. Bruce keeps the audience going and is still an excellent performer, without him there would be nothing IMO.
Also, I saw the young lady attempt to climb on stage by Bruce. She never got on the stage, security grabbed her very quickly and 2 minutes later she was escorted back to her seat. I happen to know who she is (from my daughter's accounting firm, my daughter is her manager) and saw it go down from quite close up. It took 2 seconds, security was excellent. I'm sure years back a lot worse happened than a young girl trying to climb up to sing on the stage with the boys. Bruce shrugged like "why me?" LOL! For now 73, he also looks younger than his age. Him and Brian have birthdays 7 days apart.
All in all, a great experience. Next, off to see Brian Wilson again. A shame those "left" aren't together on stage. May Denny and Carl Rest in Peace.

Smiley Smile Stuff / 1960's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Pet Sounds

I owned it on vinyl years back. No idea what my Mom did with all of my albums when she sold the family home in the late 1970's . I recently purchased Pet Sounds on CD along with various other Beach Boys and Brian Wilson's No Pier Pressure (and including some Bruce Johnston solo music as I <3 Disney Girls with the group and his solo seen on video.) Brian Wilson's musical genius at it's best is Pet Sounds! 5 stars!!!

A quick hello from the East Coast. I'm brand new here and intend on reading before posting anything else. Thank you for the ability to join and I look forward to contributing at the right time. I'm a long time Beach Boys fan although very young when they first began, I enjoyed them in my early teen years and ever since, only learning all of their in depth history recently.
Best wishes and good health to all!
