On Vega-tables, there is a keyboard part (sounds like a key setting on Brian's organ) in the last section of the song (I know that you'll feel better, after the aca break). It's missing from the Hawthorne mix, and I'd guess because it was punched in live as you said.

First SMiLE I've listened to in over a year, and like everyone's been saying, defiantly the best. I noticed on songs like Look and Surf's Up your track and vocal mix is better than any I've heard before . How'd you achieve this? Layering of the isolated instrumental parts, lots of EQing, or what? And what program for the editing? Anyways, brilliant job, you deserve a co-production credit on it.

Strange that Dennis has to be the one labeled in this way, when this had to be one of the most bizarrely incestuous collection of people I've ever encountered.  I mean, is there anyone here that doesn't know Brian was romantically linked with all three Rovell sisters?  And that's just the tip of the iceberg...  Guess it's the price paid for looking like an Adonis!

No, you can't rationalize this away like that. What both of them did is effed up, and they both should be called on it. it's not like Brian gets the free pass while Dennis gets crap for sleeping with Mike's wife. In fact, most of the time when I see the second incidence mentioned, it's used to laugh at Mike's expense. Dennis' womanizing is very rarely looked upon in a poor light by the fans as far as I have seen, so I see no problem in someone pointing out the fact that yeah, sleeping with your cousin's wife is pretty bad.
4  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Mythbusters on: April 07, 2010, 09:12:09 PM
Fact: (ask Stebbins!) Dennis actually recorded the same album IN ITS ENTIRETY in the same studio with the same musicians (out of Brian's pocket incidentally) and then crept into Brian's room at night and hooked up a tape recorder so he could play the session tapes to Brian via headphones as he slept.

Hmm... well if Stebbins said it...  LOL

The "hum-de-dum"s from the Good Vibrations-sessions sound like Brian-only to my ears.

Marilyn at least is on there also.

Cheers dude, nicely done.

Me too. There is some footage of him in that time period in I Just Wasn't Made, made it's him around the house.

Oh lord, I wanna work towards getting to hear some of these, and this is what we get? Not too promising...

Yup, Heroes right at the begining, and River near the end, before his speech. Didn't expect to ever hear Old Man River (BBs version) in a film...

Jack Johnson as Brian's successor? I think Bri should take a page out of the Lovester's book and get a slander suit going.

Love the cello that comes in to quote Good Vibs in the second verse. And come on, how can you not love Carl singing You Still Believe in me at the end? Worth it just for that bit.

So Brian foaded with his own formula?  Ahhh!
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: The *official* Brian/BB picture thread on: July 19, 2009, 06:54:08 PM
wow Brian looks pretty horrible there. But still, even at his worse, anyone else notice he always has his hair nicely parted? No matter how greasy it is, no matter how unkempt, it's cleanly parted. What the heck?
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I'm Waiting for the Day...can we settle this? on: July 16, 2009, 12:24:00 AM
For me, the bass vox have always given it away as a Brian only song. Definately a guy singing out of his normal range, only Mike sounded that funny normally.

Just imagine how much better it would have gone if they were cooking a steak though!

 Razz

A little bit of birthday cake for desert...

That's why I love it. It's a perfect musical snapshot of what I would imagine he felt like at that time.

Also, Tennessee Waltz is perfect. Great song.

I really love Brian's tag to Forever here, more than the original. It's just amazing.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Battle Hymn Of The Republic... on: June 06, 2007, 08:43:19 PM
The only one I can really pick out on the chorus is Al.
19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Battle Hymn Of The Republic... on: June 06, 2007, 06:58:50 PM
I agree,I like it. The track has lots of interesting synth parts are playing off each other, very cool to hear.
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Brian Pics 72-74 on: May 30, 2007, 10:08:44 PM
Wow, I never would have guessed that first one was from around Smile. Crazy. It's quite amazing the knowledge you have of every era!

I fixed the other pic.
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Brian Pics 72-74 on: May 30, 2007, 08:22:17 PM
Hey MBE, you think this pic from around the time of that 74 clip from Times you mentioned earlier?

Another interesting one:

One more:

I think most of those are 76 once the 15 Big Ones sessions commenced.. the ones where he was REAL heavy are probably from Janurary. The few I know for certain are from 1975 were taken at the Anaheim show.

Looking at his hair length, general facial appearance, weight, and Dennis not having a beard, I'm pretty sure it's 75.

But I could be wrong.
23  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Brian Pics 72-74 on: May 30, 2007, 01:01:05 AM
Well heres some 75 ones:

I was actually quite surprised to find so many for 75. I have much less luck with 73 or 74.
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: This Whole World Vocals on: May 25, 2007, 09:18:59 PM
And it's Al doing the "This whole world" falsetto at the end, right?

And the "I'm thinkin' bout" in the middle?

I'm sure that's Bri in the middle.  And I always assumed that's his falsetto, too.
Josh, let us know.

Well, in the instrumental bridge (the second time through the "girls and boys" section) it's definitely him singing the falsetto line. I'm talking about the line "I'm thinkin bout this whole world" following Carl's "Now here comes another day one".

And I would have to agree it's among my top favorites. Just an amazing piece of music in every aspect.
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / Brian Wilson Solo Albums / Re: Imagination on: May 25, 2007, 04:39:24 PM
I'm only really familiar with  She Says She Needs Me, but I love the way it is arranged, excellent cellos and clarinets. Does the whole album use these kind of arrangements, or are they unique to this track?
