The highpoint for me would be when he nailed those four lines in 'Don't Go Near The Water'. They just sound so damn awesome.

The rest of his stuff I'm kind of so-so on. Take A Load Off Your Feet Pete and Good Time are fun but I wouldn't say I want to hear more of his songs on the albums, there's a decent amount.

Did he use his mullett as a method of distracting Brian in the 80's for the purpose of brainwashing him?

You're definitely onto something here...

It could have been that the 'Business at the front, party at the back' ethic of the mullet stunned Brian so much that he couldn't help but respond to whatever Landy said.

Cool! I liked it, as you say it is quite McCartney-esque (especially the drums), nice stuff.

Bruce always struck me as a happy-go-lucky kind of guy though there is obviously this other side to his personality that is a little unpleasant. I've never been too keen on his creative contributions to The Beach Boys either (The Nearest Faraway Place, uhhhh). And he's definitely gone down in my estimation after knocking 'Love You'!
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / Book Reviews / Re: Smile: The Story of Brian Wilson's Lost Masterpiece on: February 22, 2007, 06:38:43 AM
I thought the book was okay. Like another poster has said there are lengthy quotes from Parks which are the parts I found most enjoyable. Though I didn't notice some of those incorrect 'facts' some of you mentioned, I can totally appreciate how that could annoy people and is going to harm the integrity of the book.

The main problem I had was about half way or three quarters of the way through when the tone of the book becomes a lot more defensive and aggressive. It makes sense that Priore gives some personal experiences to Smile and how he is linked to it but maybe he does let his personal feelings get in the way of an objective review.
