we got the tickets and a little excited. I try to keep my expectations pretty low<I saw him xmas of 2016 in cincy and he was so much better than expected> I almost didnt want to go but you never know if you get the chaNCE AGAIB.  I wish The beach boys were playing close because I like what the group jas begun<saying a lot because I use to be argntly against Mike and his group> We got a family friend to take me and it will be fun introduing him to Pet Sounds> The Zombies I could do without but it could be worse.

3  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What if Jan & Dean had joined The Beach Boys? on: January 23, 2017, 09:06:01 AM
I could see Jan replacing Mike but not really seeing both of them  I think Smile would have been finished because Jan had the chops to help him out
4  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Which Beach Boys Song Would Be A Hit If Updated? Surfin USA on: January 23, 2017, 09:04:31 AM
It seems that Surfin' USA is a hit every time they rerelease it.  Go ahead and top 100 for sure to 20 probabaly!!!
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Beach Boy's wives on: January 07, 2017, 10:16:09 AM
is there a list of the Beach Boys any the woman they have been married too or possibly married too.<I didn't find anything listed> Looking for obscure possibly annulled.  My wife has a family friend who says she was married to one but I say she is full of it.  Here name is Tonia I don't have a maiden name.  It would have been in the early to mid sixties.
6  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike's PBS Beach Boys (no Happy Endings here (pun intended)! on: August 31, 2016, 09:07:41 PM
I thought Mike did as well as anyone who has hosted a PBS show.
7  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Milt Love on: July 19, 2016, 01:33:19 PM
Anyone know how tall he was also Steven. I know Stan is list at 6'9 probably closer to 6-7 or so.
8  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Awesome New Mike Love Article!! on: February 13, 2016, 07:47:04 AM
I can see how is he mad.  Yes he jumped on a gravy train and has made bank for doing so.  He didn't get writing credits<which probably didn't seem to matter as much in 1965 when the band was huge.  I am sure he feels and some what rightly so that he has carried the burden of the music since 64<through touring> and now he is looked at as a pariah.<no matter how much confidence you have it has to beat on you>  I would guess he feels that Brian fcked as well as the music with the formula by leaving the touring band then screwing up his voice. >not to mention the drugs which may have had some ,and in his opinion most of the reason Brian dropped out of sight>
I do want to say I have never been accused as being a Mike Love apologist my wife on numerous times had tried to get me to go see his band.
9  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Albums Ranked Worst to Best on: February 10, 2016, 05:47:49 AM
Summer in Paradise should be rated even lower because of the terrible packaging.  The list isn't horrible. I would add at least the first concert album especially since it was their first number one.
10  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: How much did the public know about Mike's credit snubbing back in the day? on: February 05, 2016, 05:39:21 AM
It was pretty common place in the industry in the 50's and 60's not to get credit so maybe that was part of it.  Who know maybe Murray had a side deal with him<I doubt it>, or Maybe after Murray sold Se of Tunes he didn't think the royalties were worth much.
11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Were the Beach Boys a Progressive Band? on: February 05, 2016, 05:34:07 AM
Their fight with Capital, Brian Wilson in the studio, being their own publishers were very progressive. <maybe the most in the 60's>  I can see once Endless summer came out not so much. <though they made bank with it>
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Greatest American Rock Band of All Time? on: February 05, 2016, 05:29:14 AM
The Ventures should be on a list like this.
I agree, but I'm biased - I'm from the Northwest.

To say nothing of The Sonics:
One of the numerous overrated bands caused by the death of their lead singer.   Ray is another example, Brian got screwed by his death if you care about awards anyway

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGpActuZbGc
The originators of grunge!
Interesting. I read elsewhere that it's Nirvana (who I do not tolerate).
The Sonics were 60s. So they had 3 decades on Nirvana (a very overrated band IMO).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Nirvana is overrated.  It's been 25 years, and I still don't understand the attraction.  And, no offense to any of their fans, but IMO, I highly doubt they would be placed so highly on so many lists of rock bands had Kurt Cobain had not died when they and grunge were at their peak.

I looked through them. I am still trying to figure out what to do.   His hand are so small but he seems to be able to make music out of anything.
14  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Do You Still Listen to the Old Classics? on: December 24, 2015, 10:58:19 PM
Their voices not so much as a Country twang it is still a twang none the less.
15  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Do You Still Listen to the Old Classics? on: December 20, 2015, 11:40:04 PM
I love Dion I think he is hugely underrated and very versatile.   I go through my doo wop stages and early 60's stuff, Elvis early Conway not a fan of very much British invasion stuff the twang is off putting.  <though I do lile the DC 5>
16  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Guitar boiok or websites for special needs on: December 20, 2015, 11:37:05 PM
My son is 8 <and developmentally delayed>and very musically inclined.  We live in a small apartment and think he would love guitar, I can't play and am developing a neuropathy and cant teach my self. Does anyone know of good sites  or book to help teach him. Big pictures would be the best.\Thank you I know there are a lot of spectacular musicians this site and hope someone may be able to give some advice. I ordered him a cheap starter acoustic.  There is a 50 50 chance that he wil do a Jeff Jarret with the guitar  on my head so I went cheap.

18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Gomg to the cincy show on NOv 14th on: October 30, 2015, 04:34:35 AM
My wife got me tickets for the 14th in Cincy.  I sort of goofed she would have gotten VIP but I didn't even think about it until she had placed the order.  I was so excited he was coming to CIncy I didn't check.  I missed out on the 50 anniversary because of work.<retail>  I do have pretty good seats because I am partially disabled and will be in a wheelchair.  I wish I could take my son but his sensory issues might be an issue when he starts crying and say no Daddy sing<g>

19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: ADULT/CHILD a hit? on: August 09, 2015, 06:53:45 PM
I don't know.  A lot of times there is no rhyme nor reason to what becomes a hit.  I think if it was promoted properly something may have caught on but most likely not.
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: A bunch of us SmileySmilers recorded a cover of Add Some Music. Take a listen! on: August 06, 2015, 09:37:09 AM
Awesome sounds great.  Just got a new pair of head phones and really haven't had a chance to break them out. <amazing what a good pair of neutral  headphones do>
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Unleash The Love - Mike Love 2005 album on: July 29, 2015, 02:07:09 PM
Wrinkles  reminds me of a lot of early to mid 70's bubble gum songs.  It isn't the worse thing I have heard.  Heck it is better than 90 percent of the dreck that is considered music today.  That said I wouldn't  buy the single:)
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love and Mercy - News and Reviews - First clip is out. on: July 26, 2015, 07:29:10 AM
Maybe they are holding off a tad bit because of NPP<though it has been a few months for NPP>
23  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Why did warner bros screw up promotion/marketing? on: June 12, 2015, 08:02:21 PM
Did the Beach Boys ever get proper marketing?<Sans 15 Big Ones > I think part of Brian's problem was the amount of albums they had to put out. I think Capital could have Milked the early Albums better than they did and lord knows they didn't do any favors to Pet SOunds.
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carl Wilson - 1st soloalbum-rerelease news! on: April 29, 2015, 07:49:13 PM
Dick Clark said some nice things about it as well as the dance show that was on in the 80's
