Had a couple more thoughts to add after the second show in Chicago and based on the discussion here. I went on with two friends who like Beach Boys music in the way most people do— the hits up to Pet Sounds + Good Vibrations and Kokomo. I told them going in they were in for a bunch of deep cuts including most of an album they’ve never heard. I was worried the Love You section would lose them and instead it was met with the opposite response! They were completely into it and one of them said it was his favorite part of the show and he’s been listening to the album since the show. What a testament to the concert!
Also, always thought Matt has done a great job, but he sounds better than ever. The strength of Matt, Rob and Darian’s vocal stack really carries the harmonies and sounds absolutely killer. Al should film one of these shows and release it so people around the world can see and hear this!
Is the live mixer the same person who did BW shows?

I just saw Al and the Pet Sounds Band last night in Chicago. While this forum has been a great resource for me over the years, I've been intentionally avoiding most spoilers about the show. I went in knowing we'd get Love You and some other deep cuts, along with the hits. What I left with was a profound excitement about what I hope is the future of this music! RUN, DON'T WALK TO SEE THIS SHOW.
I've seen all the different BB related touring iterations over the years and enjoyed most for various reasons. But I don't think I've ever left a show this excited. For a long time, I wondered what would happen to this music in a live setting once the originals stopped touring. Who would carry on the legacy? Sharing the front line, Darian, Matt, and Rob each taking leads (all more so than in the BW touring days) at times gave me chills. I have no idea if these guys will want to keep doing this when all the original Beach Boys are no longer playing shows, but I sure hope for the rest of us they do. Aside from their fantastic musicianship, there is a genuine love and excitement that infuses each song. You feel it in the crowd.
The band is tight in all the right ways, but also loose and having a great time. Al sounded great! Whatever illness someone mentioned that he was dealing with last year, he sounds much more normal now singing. Not just normal, but GREAT. The crowd loved it and was super into it. Different vibe than BW shows-- more interactive. Everyone was on their feet from the Pet Sounds Suite through the end of the encore!
My only criticism is that Al moves off the mic a lot while singing and that makes him tough to hear at times. It could be a teleprompter placement issue, as I gotta think over the last 60 years Al's developed good enough mic technique, and I've never noticed this before. But honestly, who cares... this was such a spectacular show. Excited to see tonight's show.

Reviving this thread after revisiting some recordings of this tour. My ears are very happy. Some of the best live vocals of any of the touring eras from Carl and Al in particular. Happy that Add Some Music from this show got released with cleaned up audio on the Feel Flows set (seems like it was extraction and not a true multitrack mix which I assume doesn't exist), but remain curious why this whole show hasn't been released as a live set. It's just absolutely fantastic.

I had the pleasure of seeing this movie last night @ Tribeca. I found it poignant and moving. It is by far the most intimate portrait of BW I've seen (and I've seen them all). To pull this off is no small feat. Some new wonderful insights into the past, some sad ones, and everything in between. It truly feels like you are riding in the car with your buddy Brian. Jason Fine did a remarkable job getting Brian to open up (you can tell how much Brian loves him and trusts him) and Brent Wilson did a remarkable job capturing some raw and spontaneous moments, as well as weaving the past with the present. Some of the most powerful moments are not in what is said, but what is shown and contextualized. Some great stuff with the BW Band as well.
They said last night they have international theatrical distribution for Q4 2021, and hope to be able to secure the same domestically in the US. I hope everyone on here is able to see this soon.

They're only using that name because a lawyer said they could. My understanding is that Brian, Estates of Carl and Dennis, Mike and Al via the corporation says he can use the name in exchange for the fee he pays to the BB Corp to license the name. The lawyers got more heavily involved when Al didn’t want to pay to license the name to use within his band’s name (back when he had Carnie and Wendy in his group). Presumably if Brian and Al were truly unhappy with Mike using the name, all it’d take would be either Carl’s estate or Dennis’ estate to be on board to vote against licensing the name to Mike. But of course, they all get paid for this license, including Brian and Al. Someone please jump in and correct any misunderstanding I have here.
