It's 1981-83 and I'm an executive for CBS/Caribou/whomever and I demand "new" material: those middle aged Beach Bum's ain't had a hit for 5 years, solo albums ain't selling, so YOUR job, Sonny Jim, is to compile an album from the odds and sods on bootlegs and boxsets of outtakes, to present to myself,  just try to do your best... we need a hit and to sell units...

No more than 12 tracks. With an emphsis on the more recent late 70's, early 80's material, but you can go way back to 1960 if you want... Go compile me a tracklist!

Hi people, I'm a relative newbie to the board (so I apologise if this has been discussed on previous occasions) but when exactly were the live Beach Boys at their best?

Is there a tour or even a single show that is well recognised as being the zenith of The Beach Boys live performances?

If so where and when and why?

I was wondering, I know Brian only performed live sporadically with The Beach Boys from 1965-mid 90's and Carl was away in the early 80's with his solo career. As for Dennis I'm not sure as to how much he was going out live in the early 80's?

My question for you all is... when was the final show in which Brian, Dennis, Carl, Mike, Al and I guess Bruce performed and appeared together?

I guess it's 4th July 1983? But my BB's knowledge is much and far more limited than some if not nearly every one of you great people.

Thanks for the advice, I've been a fan of the group for a while just never got around to completing the discography. One thing, with the Endless Harmony album, aren't there two versions? What's with that? Also I see that their is in fact a 6 disc Good Vibrations box. What's with all the different permutations of these?

I was thinking about Party/Stack-o-tracks but is it really that essential? I have been after MIU/LA for awhile but it seems that is the rarest of the twofers by far, all the rest you can get for under five pounds, that one you are looking at £60 which I'm not prepared to pay for a single CD. I was also thinking about the live albums...
