I screwed up on C-Man being banned. It was Cam Mott,I believe. I wrote that when I was a little ticked. I should have checked before I posted. I have nothing against C-man.I always liked reading his post. I don't know any of you or any fact-checkers and self-proclaimed insiders. The reason I rarely post is I come here for news on release etc... Why do I ask to be removed? Because ,I'm human and I don't want to post or reply to a post that might be done in anger. It's too tempting to get pulled into a political scrap.
thank you

This board banned the C-man along with many others. There was a time when there were posters with inside knowledge of the Beach Boys world, but they've left or been banned. So,all we're left with is Mike Love bashing and "What is Brian's favorite color?"
Good bye

Brian's Facebook had a gay pride thing the day the Supreme Court ruled gay marriage constitutional. Take that how you will.
By the way, I think this isn't a topic that should be on this part of the board.
I agree, this is a powder keg question to which we have no way of knowing an answer.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carl and Mike's relationship

In trying to stay on topic, staying with Carl's role as on-stage band leader, staying with Carl's "keeping the peace" - and not trying to start anything - if there were minutes kept for band meetings (assuming the band members attended those meetings), I'd love to read them. While I'll concede that Mike was the most vocal in promoting the 1962-1965 period songs, I will always believe the others - including Carl Wilson - eventually realized and came around to the "give the people what they want" philosophy. That doesn't mean that a part of Carl always desired the more artistic cut, or that he didn't become bored and ask himself "what am I doing here". But, Carl wasn't dumb, and he knew that if this Beach Boy thing was going to continue for the long run - and don't think the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ issue wasn't very, very prominent - so, I believe he was doing a lot more than pacifying Mike. I think has a lot to do with why the band plays more of those early years songs. I was at a concert many years back and Mike Love says "We're gonna play something a little newer" and this teenager down a few seats from me tells his buddy "I don't want to hear any new sh*t." I think that's how most casual fans feel. It's what's played on the radio and it's what people are familiar with.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New York Times comment piece about The Beach Boys' politics

I was asked for my opinion on the subject by the author of this article while he was writing it. I told him that despite what many on the outside think they know... the Beach Boys (past and present) are a group of politically diverse individuals and to put the band into a Republican bag is a narrow view that overlooks a far more nuanced truth. Mike is not as solid of a Republican as Bruce...who is very solidly one. The others (past and present) range from right leaning to left leaning. Most of them prefer to keep their politics to themselves, which, as a music fan, I appreciate.
Exactly!

If Reagan were running for Republican candidate today, he wouldn't stand a chance. He's far too liberal. The party have sold out to religious freaks and nut jobs.
"from what I hear you're losing your country to Islamic immigrants."
Case in point. Don't be so f*cking stupid.
You've got to be joking? JFK would be considered a conservative in this political climate. You either don't live in the states or your heads up your a**

Yeah, but COME. THE. F*CK. ON. That is such a f*cking ludicrous statement. Sure, from my British perspective the American left-wing haven't got a pair of bollocks between them and are perfectly happy to play the centre of the political spectrum like unprincipled fools, but I'd rather that than Prop 8 or trying to overturn Roe Vs. Wade, or those draconian immigration laws in Arizona. Or Newt f*cking Gingrich. You dig? TL;DR = I hate both sides of the American political spectrum because I is an poxy englishman I'd forget about American politics and worry more about what's going on in Europe and especially England ,from what I hear you're losing to country to Islamic immigrants. A lot of your and mine forefathers died fighting to defend a country you're giving away because of liberal politicians..... Back to music. Hmm seems like Muslims make up 2.7% of the population so much for taking over. Whats the problem with islamic immigrants anyway? Sharia law for one thing. And nothing if they assimilate . I'm not going to debate what the English already know.

I hate . . . just as much as the next left-winger . . . . .
In my experience it seems to be what left-wingers do best. Yes, because the American Right is completely open to all sorts, no matter if you're gay or poor or an immigrant or the President himself.... ah yes, what a happy, inclusive bunch. Always with a smile on their face. Come the f*ck on. You just proved his point.
