1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Barnyard Mistake in Pressing of Smile Sessions CD? on: November 08, 2011, 09:17:15 AM
AMAZING work!  Can't wait to hear more...

I posted this in the Barnyard thread...

They could have digitally removed the piano from the demo and just added the vocals to the acetate like this: http://oron.com/qcxlb2ls4ib7
It takes a little bit of work, but I think it sounds significantly better.

Not quite sure

Look for Capitol's deluxe box set of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys' legendary, but never released, original SMILE sessions, in a nifty 5-CD, two-vinyl LP package as well as a two-CD set, to score 20k.

That's really good, it's sure to be a steady seller, a lot of people are waiting for Christmas etc and the word of mouth is amazing, especially after the 10 from Pitchfork.

This estimate is only based on first day sales but HDD are usually on the money

If they combine those figures for the first week, you're looking at something like #35 on Billboard (BWRG hit #26 with about 26,000) - IF the set doesn't get shunted into the catalog chart

Billboard no longer discriminates against catalog material on the Top 200 LP chart, thus the reentry of Beatles 1 and Dark Side Of The Moon upon their recent re-releases. So, TSS should make an entry right about where you predict.
