I'd go see em , but only cos Foskett's there .
How did he end up there and not in Brian's band anyway ?
2  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Thinking About Making a 33 1/3 Book Propsal on: June 28, 2014, 03:01:16 PM
I think you should go for it , let THEM decide if they want it. If they do , happy days. As long as it gets published why would you care how many it sells ? If you're happy with what you write (and you wouldn't send it otherwise) then it's a success. it's up to the publishers to worry about sales etc.

Rolling Stone ? I used to say i wouldn't wipe my arse with it.
Changed my mind though. Nowadays i WOULD wipe my arse with it..........

I'd be happy just to get a few Bootleg Series type releases , like the Dylan ones .
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mastering Error on MIC Disc 3 ? on: January 11, 2014, 08:00:58 AM
I wasn't too fussed to be honest but after reading further on this thread i sent an email to the UK address and had a replacement in 2 days , superb. Thanks to everyone on here who  gave good advice.

I honestly can't believe some of the negative views on TWGMTR , i think it's absolutely superb and i wasn't expecting much at all , it surprised me big time.
Could do without Beaches In Mind but big deal. Bill and Sue has a terrible main lyric but the chorus is classic BB's.
There's a few real gems ,especially at the end of course ,and most of the rest would be standouts on any BB's  album from the mid-70's onwards.

I really think it's a great album , then again i haven't tried speeding any of it up by a 6th yet so maybe i could make it better.
7  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mastering Error on MIC Disc 3 ? on: September 07, 2013, 11:01:13 AM
I played Disc 3 before reading this thread and didn't notice a thing !`
it's definitely there though , i can hear a tiny bit of Murray The K before Do It Agaim. Really not a problem whatsoever for me but i wouldn't criticise anyone who's annoyed , paid a lot for it. It doesn't affect the music in any major way though.

Just having my first proper listen to Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live again , absolutely sublime !

I'd suggest Back Home and Let's Put Our Hearts Together , two of my personal "off the beaten track" favourites.
11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / That Same Song on: December 24, 2012, 07:27:13 AM

13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Night on BBC4 Tonight on: November 30, 2012, 02:41:29 PM
Missed Doin It Again but i'll catch it later (even less reason to buy the new 2disc DVD !) (don't worry, i still will).
Watching Knebworth now even though i have the DVD , just cos it's on.
Is The Dennis doc worth watching ?
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Anybody seen the new remasters in store? on: November 29, 2012, 10:46:50 AM
You need to move to Scotland mate , i've seen them in every record shop i've been in , well distributed.
In fact , i was down in York 3 weeks ago and even seen them all there , in the HMV.
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson's Magical Jukebox on: November 28, 2012, 10:39:46 AM
Bian Wilsons Jukebox CD  (which i don't have) is still available on Amazon Uk (haven't checked USA or elsewhere) ;

John Lennons (which i do have) is rarer but available (2nd hand version is cheaper);

16  Smiley Smile Stuff / Polls / Re: Twofer polls #14: Friends vs. 20/20 on: November 19, 2012, 02:41:44 PM
Friends. In terms of the music it's close, but it has a better cover !
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Live in Concert: 50th Anniversary DVD and Blu-ray. on: November 19, 2012, 02:11:40 PM
Best Buy had this in stock for $11.99 today. There was absolutely no mention of a second disc with Doin' It Again. That's some strange marketing if it's really in there...

I believe the 2 disc version with Doin It Again is only for Uk/Europe. It wasn't released over here.
Don't know about Australia etc , but USA is one disc.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Why No Love For Kokomo ? on: November 12, 2012, 01:45:13 PM
I wouldn't put in my Top 30 never mind Top 10 but i bloody love Kokomo , great wee song, catchy as hell.
19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: C50 Blu ray Nov 20 (edit)... and new fastfocusTV doc on: November 12, 2012, 01:43:13 AM
And now for the OFFICIAL tracklisting:

1.  Do It Again
 2.  Catch A Wave
 3.  Hawaii
 4.  Marcella
 5.  Isn't It Time
 6.  Little Deuce Coupe
 7.  409
 8.  Shut Down
 9.  I Get Around
 10.  Heroes And Villians
 11.  Sloop John B
 12.  Wouldn't It Be Nice
 13.  All This Is That
 14.  That's Why God Made The Radio
 15.  Sail On Sailor
 16.  Good Vibrations
 17.  California Girls
 18.  Help Me Rhonda
 19.  Rock And Roll Music
 20.  Kokomo
 21.  Fun Fun Fun

http://www.walmart.com/ip/22001294?adid=

Sorry, guys, to me this is a very disappointing tracklist. No Dance Dance Dance, one of my all time favorites, instead we get some of my all time bores like Marcella, Rock And Roll Music, and All This Is That. Not to speak of Kokomo. Sail On Sailor isn't one of my favorites either, but I liked it much better live than the studio version. I'd have preferred Add Some Music, Please Let Me Wonder, and Be True To Your School (Wheeeeeeeeen...)

Yeah, but NO Barbara-freakin'-Ann, lets be thankful for small mercies!

No way ! Did you not see it on the Jools Holland show, most excellent .
Even 'youngsters" at my work who tuned in for Muse and The XX were saying how much they enjoyed it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the DVD isa 2 disc set , one disc is the live selection , the other is the documentary Doing It Again.
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: November 09, 2012, 04:31:19 PM
If we really must discuss other bands on this thread, and lets face it there's nothing to discuss re: the box set so why not !, then we should make it someone decent, i mean, c'mon.Oasis ? really ?

Anyone heard "Found A Little baby" by Plush ?
Now THAT'S quality !
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 2012 DVD Live Trailer on: November 08, 2012, 10:29:08 AM
My cash is short and Christmas is coming so i'll be waiting on the Smiley Smile verdict before buying this. The trailer sounds terrible., Mike especially on Fun Fun Fun , vocals tampered with to disastrous effect. Not hopeful.

The YouTube video from the first row at Albert Hall is much better, real and atmospheric !

23  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I won a copy of Brian's On Tour DVD in a Facebook contest. on: November 06, 2012, 10:38:09 AM
This is awesome, I never win anything!

And judging by the "prize" you're getting, it's safe to say you still haven't won anything.  Afro

I take it's not that good then?  That would be okay, as long as I'm not paying for it, it's no loss.  But I love the Pet Sounds Live and Smile DVDs so I don't know.
Nonsense, it's a cool tour documentary.

It's bloody brilliant, i love it.
However, you should be ASHAMED that you don't already own it !  Shocked
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Bottom 5 Beach Boys albums on: November 06, 2012, 10:23:11 AM
I love even most of their so-called crummy albums (especially Party and 15BO). So this is hard to pinpoint but I can definitely throw these down:

1. Stars and Stripes (shudder)
2. Summer in Paradise (okay I haven't heard this, I'm just assuming I would rate it low based on general consensus. Meanwhile I am keeping my eye out for a copy to buy.).3. Beach Boys '85 (don't mind the dated production, just think too many of the songs are dull)
4. Still Cruisin' (not enough new songs, plus meh productions. Love the Fat Boys song though!)
5. Surfin' Safari (too many novelty type songs, but obviously has some amazing songs too)

It is pretty bad, but I don't think it's right to rank an album you haven't heard.

Correct, which is why i'm staying out of this one !
I dont own the early ones (first 4/5) or anything from late 70's onwards (except the new one).
I'm content with the tracks from those on the GV box set.
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Top 5 Beach Boys albums on: November 04, 2012, 02:07:08 PM
1/ Surf's Up
  2/ Pet Sounds
    3/ Friends
      4/ Sunflower
5/ That's Why God Made The Radio

Just behind them : 20/20 and Love You.

Not trying to be controversial with #5 , i really think it's brilliant and i'm still playing it a lot. Every track on it (even the worst, Beaches In Mind) would fit on any other album and not be out of place. And  Daybreak Over The Ocean plus the final 3 tracks are to die for, amazing.
