1  Smiley Smile Stuff / BRIAN WILSON Q & A / Have you written any new songs since completing No Pier Pressure? on: January 25, 2015, 03:04:26 PM
Looking forward very much to the new album - but have you started or completed any new songs since you completed it? And if so, do you have any titles you can share?

And Al Jardine will be joining him.
It's sounding more promising already

I was procrastinating about whether or not to get tickets for the 3 day Hop Farm Festival - it's got a good eclectic line up, is 45 mins drive from where I live and Brian is headlining on the Saturday night.  I've seen him a number of times over the years - the incredible Pet Sounds, Smile and TLOS concerts at London's Royal Festival Hall and BBs C50 final night at Wembley etc - so I wasn't too bothered about what will probably be a greatest hits package.

I finally succumbed when I saw a half price weekend ticket offer through Time Out, available until Tue 24 June.  If anyone is interested here's the link:

So Mike is asked about his lyrics for 'Add Some Music' as a remove from his Chuck Berry style and completely fails to respond to this issue in his answer.  Is this because he didn't write the lyrics? Brian has previously described them as "the greatest lyrics I ever wrote" when introducing the song at his concerts (including Live at the Roxy).

That bit quite near the start of Cool Cool Water when the riff fades out and you get sucked up into a cloud where the Boys acapella voices are doing some really strange chanting and sighing, before descending back to planet Earth where the song cuts back in again.

Thought I'd take this opportunity to post my first Smiley response after lurking for years.  When I saw Brian play the RFH in London in 2002 he was clearly so fired up by the audience response that he shouted "let's get nude!" at the end of one song.

One of my favourite Brian quotes comes third hand from an acquaintance who managed to get in the same lift (elevator) as Brian at his Brighton gig (second UK tour of 2002).  The guy managed to have a quick chat with Brian and tried to endear him with his wit.  Brian  made some comment along the lines of he liked the British and their humour, humour being a great thing - while staring intently and unsmiling at the guy, who then laid a fan question on Brian - "Brian, back in the 70s you wrote a song called 'Stevie' - is it about Stevie Nicks or Stevie Wonder?". Brian stared at the guy for a moment and responded  as if deep in thought "Hey...Stevie Wonder...did you know he's blind?"
