Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: COPYRIGHT IS GETTING OUT THE LINE

So, I am the owner of the Ultimate Beach Boys Video Collection channel. And, yes, I got shut down due to receiving 3 copyright strikes within 6 months. I have gotten copyright strikes in the past but it would be one and then the 6 months would go by and I would be in the clear. But I got slammed recently. I was just as disappointed as you were.
I had items taken down from the Merv Griffin people, the Dick Clark people, The Nashville Network and another company called Reelin' In The Years. BRI only took down one video and it was the 25th Anniversary Special. What went untouched were t.v. shows that are now defunct ("Public Lives Private People", "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous") and the concert reviews and news items from local t.v.
Yes, I still have all of these clips and at some point I will probably load them up again under a new channel or a new website and will keep away from the ones that might get pulled down again. But these days, time is a precious commodity on my end! But I will do it soon. My intention for the channel was to share what I had. (Some of my clips made it into the videos that Noven Jaisi put in the videos that appeared during Mike's tour last year as well as promo videos for his book.) Wasn't looking to make any money at all - just wanted to share with my fellow fans.
I'm glad that you all enjoyed it so much and when I do relaunch it, I'll be sure to announce it here!
Patricia

The date on the properties on my USB flash is May 20. Maybe later versions of this drive did not include the second video.
Very interesting. Patricia (or anyone else), do you have the USB drive from last year’s tour? HeyJude mentioned it earlier in the thread and I’m still very curious as to what’s on it. Unfortunately, I didn't get last year's USB drive from last year. I know that in 2014, the USB drive had the complete "Shut Down Vol. 2" and "All Summer Long" albums.

OK, that's confirmed. I don't own this item as I said, but are there other similar examples and what are they? GV has been mentioned too...did they remake that one as well and put it on old film footage?
There’s only one file on the USB drive and it’s that “Sloop” video. Actually, there are two videos on the USB drive. One is the "Sloop" video, the other is the 6 minute video that has been played at the beginning of every show on the 2016 tour.

Didn't know they were on Regis; would have loved to have seen that. Hope it shows up on You Tube.
They did Darlin' with Carnie and Matt trading leads. As far as I can remember, that was the only complete performance to make it to actual air, but IIRC, they also did a couple of songs leading in and out of the breaks (don't know how complete they were in terms of what the studio audience actually saw). I think I Can Hear Music was one of them. Al did a short sitdown interview as well where he referenced Carl's passing. The show aired on November 23, 1998. I taped it, but I have a better chance of hitting the lottery than finding that VHS tape these days. Though, I also upped an audio-only file of Darlin' to a mailing list in that primitive, pre-YouTube era...if perhaps that's still floating around somewhere in cyberspace? Maybe, someone else taped it...and could possibly up it? I have it and in the next several weeks, I'll be loading it up to my channel http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG0rWE6uhNWHUv0u8B33Peg

Hey guys,
Do you mind if I jump in here? I just want to clear things up about the lawsuit. I'm seeing some information that is correct and not correct and I'd like to clear it up for the record if I may.
When Brian was suing to get the rights back to his songs, he asked if Mike would testify on his behalf. Mike did so under the promise that he would get his songwriting credit for "California Girls". That's all he wanted. He would continue to forgo the credits he didn't have just for that one song. When Brian's case was over and Mike asked about "California Girls", Brian and his people went back on their word and said no to the credit.
Mike, who was also told at this time that the statue of limitations had passed and there was no way he could ever get his credits for anything he wrote, was very discouraged. Finally, through his family and friends, his resolve to right this wrong became very strong. He found a lawyer who told him that it wasn't too late.
There was about 80 songs but Mike only named 35 in the suit. When the verdict came down, it came in the form of a 25 page document stating multiple counts of fraud by Brian Wilson. The jury's awarded Mike $55 million dollars.
But why didn't Mike take the $55 million from Brian? Because that would have bankrupt him and Brian would be forced to work for the rest of his life. And Mike just didn't want to do that to him. Brian in his prior case received $10 million - Mike asked for $5 million.
And, yes, Mike and Brian were, in fact, hugging each other when it was all over.
