FWIW I bought the track on amazon. When I imported it into iTunes, it lists the composer as solely "Joe Thomas"....
Itunes says Joe Thomas and Brian Wilson. Don't like the song. Brian sounds real smooth, though. I don't mind the autotune.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Lets get Mike Love in the new Twin Peaks series.

As we all know, Mike Love is a TM dude. Now I may be mistaken, but I'm sure I read that he and fellow TM'er David Lynch are friends. At the very least, I know they're acquaintances in some way. I am proposing that this connection between one another must be exploited. Mike Love has to be cast in Lynch's Twin Peak revival. He can be cast as Mike Love, or he could play a character. The details don't matter. The only thing that matters is seeing Mike Love on my TV.
I'm not sure how we can mobilize this, but I know for a fact that there are members of Love's organization who read these boards. Please get the ball rolling and have Love reach out to Lynch.
Also ask if he believes in ghosts.

I don't get the "I'm a fan but I hate Bruce sentiment". He's a great talent, a solid-crafted songwriter, an accomplished instrumentalist and singer... And he's immortalized on a few classic records. He produced LA Album, which seems to be a favorite around here. He's done and produced his due ammount of caca, just like any of us. But he's achieved much more than most of us; that's why I don't dig the "I'm above him" tone of some posts. True, based on his capacity he could have afforded a much bigger career than he has, but A) he accomplished a lot anyway by all means and B) by the time you're 70+ you have already achieved your peak years if not decades before.
I don't think of myself as above Bruce, nor he above me. We both put our shorts on one leg at a time, his just ride a little higher.

Since when does Al NOT want to join Mike's "outfit". Al's Arabian horses don't bring in nearly the income as a very lucrative deal playing as a Beach Boy. Only reason I can think of that Al would turn it down (and he hasn't said anything of the sort) is because of the exhausting touring schedule. Otherwise, Al could obviously rake in the big bucks like he did back in '98 and on the C50. Compared to playing a handful of gigs with Brian? C'mon, if Al were asked I'll betcha he'd jump all over the chance. He might have conditions, but he ain't dumb!!
Al's Arabian Horses is a good album title.

In India Mike Love met with the famous rock group the Beatles. It was here Mike wrote the song BACK IN THE USSR. Legend has it that Paul McCartney gets credit because Mike used his back as if it were a desk. To this day whenever Mike sees Paul he yells "hows my favorite piece of furniture" and slathers Sir Paul with varnish. Sir Paul thinks its fun and enjoyable. Sir Paul is a sick man. . .

Are you talking "young people" like children? Yeah, always tons of children at Mike's Beach Boys shows. I've never rated that as an attribute.
I can firmly attest to this fact: Unlike Jon's part of the country, the well-heeled NYC area folk are bypassing Mike Love concerts for the likes of off-Broadway, Lincoln Center and the Met, etc. I'm not saying that Brian's shows are bringing out Thurston Howell and his ilk, but the Mike shows I've caught over the recent years in the Tri-State NY area attract a lotta broken down sorts. County fair indoors. It is not a classy night out. It seems to me to be a decidedly lower income gang.
I love seeing the kids at Mike's Beach Boys shows. They don't know about the entire shitshow behind the scenes, they just love the music.

Ann is kicking serious ass these days! She looks fantastic and the current Heart lineup really rocks! The stuff they're doing is pretty damn agressive.
Watching the "My Sweet Lord" vid: am I the only one who wishes they just had Al sing the lead? ..... I agree Brian sounds good (at first) ..... but AL JARDINE is standing right there! One of the best, STILL, one of the best voices in music history!
Naw, Brian owned this. His vocal isn't perfect, but man he went all in.

Something humorous to add about that clip of My Sweet Lord: Listen for someone accidentally kicking or bumping either a guitar amp or even an old Fender spring reverb tank several times during the performance, and creating that thunder-crash sound effect that only kicking or bumping a spring reverb tank can create. Shades of "Diamond Head"! Definitely not a planned part of that performance, but it would have been perfect if they had decided to play Diamond Head. I KNEW I recognized that sound. Done it myself a few times.

Its amazing that Al could sound so much like Brian back in the day and nowadays he can sound just like Mike. "You've been thinking bout some things we used to do" from FTTBA sounds just like a young Mike.
Interesting, does it mean the autotune makes him sound like Mike? Although granted, the next line is even more crammed with autotune. I don't think so. I know I've noticed other times where Al has sounded like Mike, but can't think of any examples at the moment. It might be more accurate to say that Al could quite often sound like Mike, but its more obvious nowadays that Mike's voice is more breathy and less nasal.

Brian does sing falsetto on "Think About the Days" and sounds pretty good.
Ummm... I think that's Bruce. Sure I recall reading that somewhere. Brian is absolutely on it. Around 42 seconds and again 55 seconds. At :42 I know that's Brian on the high part, followed by Bruce on the higher part right? Does Foskett have any falsetto on TATD? He's the first falsetto you hear on the song. Contrast with Bruce's "woooah" at 10s and 40s.

I think that part is actually sung by Mike. I think Mike is harmonizing in there, and they're doing a little unison. There are quite a few examples of this on BB records ... 'All This is That' and a lot of the M.I.U. Album comes to mind. It's Al. Mike's nasal tenor doesn't show up at all on the rest of the album. Seems an odd time to start using it. Al has a similar delivery Mike-like delivery on the "pacific coast getaway" line, where its more obviously just Al.
