Hushabye is amazing. Especially the build up (starting at 1:05) to Mike's "Lullaby.... and goodnight - in your dreams I held you tight" - goosebumps everytime I hear that. The whole ASL album is fab, the only thing I hate about those early albums is that they're all so damn short!
Yeah it was a great show, too bad it was so short. I thought that Billy Hinsche was going to say something about Al not being there but no... The place still had quite a lot of empty seats - behind me there were 3 or 4 empty seats (and one was occupied by a guy who slept during half the show!).
The music sounds like a new take to me, but the last God Only Knows dóes sound very Bruce-ish..... I just wish Brian would put out some new music instead of rehashes of old stuff - but don't we all
I just got the SOT source tape last week (as FLAC files). The package includes scans of the artwork and it looks like a release and not a fan-made item. I believe Secret Smile is a mp3-only 'release'.
If it's an official press-release it's a bit stupid. It first says Johnny passed in September 2003 (correct) and then talks about how the month's following June's death in May 2004 (!) were really tough for Johnny.
Lamb Lies Down On Broadway Fly On A Windshield Broadway Melody Of 1974 In The Cage/Colony Of Slippermen Carpet Crawlers (Acoustic) Time Table (Acoustic) The Musical Box Fountain of Salmacis Supper's Ready ------- Watcher of the Skies The Knife -------- Firth Of Fifth I Know What I Like
Probably the no 1 act on my "want-to-see" list. Saw Queen + Paul Rodgers, Valensia, Brian Wilson, Peter Gabriel in the last couple of years. Now only Genesis and Kate Bush are left basically. Would love to see them do a set with stuff like Musical Box, Fountain of Salmacis and Supper's Ready. But I doubt Peter Gabriel would be interested in playing all that 35 year old stuff again... I think the chance of a Phil-era reunion is way higher, unfortunately... After DUKE they haven't released anything really worthwhile...
