where's part of rio grande?

The 'hear those guitars gently strumming' bit replicates the 'oh the great big river' chords from around the 2 minute and 7:30 marks of Rio Grande.

Plus I forgot earlier that the start of Good Kind of Love really reminds me of the verse of WIRWFC - just the feel, the similar chords and the freeform style of piano playing.

Morning Beat seems to be based on Walkin' and has a snippet of Rio Grande in it...Good Kind Of Love has a fragment of Brian's Back and the descending H&V/Goin' On line...the opening chords to Oxgen are almost identical to Love and Mercy

This has puzzled me for a couple of years too, ever since I did a bus tour of the stars' homes in LA. When the driver started telling a story about a house in Bel Air that was painted a bright, garish colour and the residents demanded it be repainted, I nearly fell off my seat. He then mentioned the magic words (BW) and pointed out a house, open to the road, on the right hand side (as you drive up Bellagio from the Bel Air gates). But when I went back the next day to have a longer look, the house number painted outside wasn't 10452. I suspect that the REAL 10452 is actually the house opposite, that is mostly hidden from the road by huge bushes/trees. That house looks very Spanish, whereas the one the bus driver pointed out looked like a typical LA mansion, with a huge front lawn. Can anyone say for certain?

Another one for the 'sounds a bit like...' discussion: the section before the chorus in good kind of love (she keeps it in a jar but not too far etc) is almost identical in melody and chords to the verse of brian's back (we once took a cab out of salt lake city now)
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Smiley Smile question for those around in '67 on: June 16, 2007, 11:37:37 PM
Hey everyone. Something to file under 'relatively small things that could have made a big difference'...I often wonder how much the album title 'Smiley Smile' affected the public perception of the BB in '67...did people think that Smiley Smile WAS SMiLE and therefore ask the question: 'Is that all they've got?'...or am I not giving Derek Taylor et al enough credit for getting the message out that SMiLE had been scrapped? If Smiley Smile had been called, let's say, 'Gettin' Hungry', would that have made a difference to the way in which the Boys (and, particularly, Brian's abilities) were perceived in '67 and the next few years?
