1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Where is my topic???? on: September 01, 2015, 08:19:38 AM
I talked about "bootlegs" in private messages and, according to the rule mentioned above, I am allowed to do that. The problem is that I created a topic saying that I have rare Beach Boys CDs for sale. I NEVER mentioned "bootlegs" and everyone who tells the reverse is a lyar. The topic should not have been deleted because it did not break the rules (in my view).

It's a lie. I never mentionned bootlegs in my post. I just said that I have rare CDs for sale. All the people who have actually read the post can confirm that.

I carefully read the "Rules and guidelines for this message board" and found no forbidding but I may have missed something...

The board isn't a place to sell or trade CD's. There are other sites to list items for sale.

Could you please recall the exact reference of the corresponding rule?

Thank you for the list Job! Could you please tell us more about "Greatest Hits Volume Three: Best of the Brother Years 1970-1986   2000 With Spelling Error on Spine"?

It reads: "Volume Trhee"

Thanks. Can you upload a scan, please?

Except there was something called "Don't Fight The Sea" recorded in '76 during the 15 Big Ones sessions. I don't know if that recording has anything to do with Al's though.

I guess it is from the sessions with Terry Jacks (like "Seasons in the Sun") since Terry Jacks also recorded "Don't Fight the Sea" (under the exact title "Y' Don't Fight the Sea").

10  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / New Beach Boys release soon? on: February 27, 2014, 03:08:49 AM
What is "B is for Beach Boys: Favorites for the Kids"? A collection of Beach Boys remixes? A Capitol promo CD has recently surfaced.

Cool! Just curious, do you have the TSS box that came with a surfboard?

No. As I know, the TSS box was the same with and without the surfboard. There exists a "light-up box" but I don't have it.

Use imgur.com. Once the photo is uploaded it will give you a link to copy to a message board.

Thank you very much!

I've tried to attach a picture (78 ko) but I received an error message. The best way would be to insert the picture directly into a post but I don't know how to do that (I guess I have to put the picture on a website and to post the link?). Any hint? Thank you.

Ah, then my collection goes back to being pretty pitiful!  LOL

I'm pretty sure that you have much more LPs than me...

What about BBs-related stuff – solo CDs, Wilson Phillips, solo and group appearances on other artists' albums (such as Richard Ashcroft, Elton John, Jeff Foxworthy…) - do they figure in the 2000CDs?

No solos, no various artists compilations, no tributes, no CDRs. “The Beach Boys” must be stated on the front cover of the CD as the unique artist. For example, “Salute to Nascar” or the Japanese compilation “I can hear music” (which includes lead vocals by Carl only) are not part of the collection. Same for the numerous Beach Boys with Jan & Dean CDs. All of this is debatable but I think that delimitated a perimeter is a crucial step for building a collection.

240 copies of Pet Sounds , in every variation, from every country?  That's probably there....

The real figure is 62.

By "A-B" I mean have you compared the music on each, to check for any differences? Is the USA edition of TWGMTR's copy of Summer's Gone exactly the same as the Taiwanese version's Summer's Gone, for example?

Ah, no I don't. My ears are not accurate enough to ear these (possible) differences... Remember how it was difficult for me to describe WIBNTLA...
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 2,000 different Beach Boys Cds! on: February 18, 2014, 12:59:23 AM
Assume this includes multiple versions of the same release? EG, I have maybe three copies of Beach Boys Classic Selected by Brian Wilson, all with the same tracklist but very slightly different packaging…

Of course! For example, I have 14 TWGMTR (USA, Europe, Canada, Japan (+promo), Australia, Taiwan, Thailand (+promo), Argentina (+promo), Brazil, Russia, Mexico).

Have you A-B'ed them all for any differences? (or should that be A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N'ed them?)

I don't know exactly what you mean. I have a list and on this list, the CDs are filed according to big categories: Albums, Christmas, Compilations, Promo, Singles, Bootlegs Live, etc.

I would love to read a list of what you have. That's a heck of a lot of CD's for one band. Like, woah, when you think about it. I second a pic, as well! I'd love to see this. Nothing like a juicy collection.

I have an EXCEL file (in French but easily readable for a non French speaker). Please send PM.

Where do you put them all? Shocked

In 3 bookcases. Total 3 meters long / 2 meters high. Hope to post a picture soon.
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 2,000 different Beach Boys Cds! on: February 17, 2014, 06:34:51 AM

I'd love to see a photo of them!
How many in % would you say actually have unique music/versions on them as opposed as reissues/editions/etc?

I will try to post a picture soon. Regarding your question, it is impossible to give an accurate answer without heavy computations... I would say about 50 (without bootlegs). So, 2.5%

What is different on your WIBNTLA( from the MIC), and can you please play/post it here?

I already answered on the topic devoted to this track.
