He's only one person so I suspect not.  But, he has certain rights to use the band's name, and, as others have pointed out, he has used it to keep the band alive for the public.   As for the other silly question, no, Paul doesn't call himself and/or his touring group The Beatles because . . . the Beatles broke up as a band,  and they all ceased using the name as a band.  That's not what happened here.

If the Beach Boys say he is the Beach Boys and give him a license to be the Beach Boys then.....

That still doesn't mean he is the beach boys,he is just lucky,the others can perform solo people still come,not the case with mike love,people would not come if he didn't kept using the name beach boys since Carl died in 1998.

Let's see, Mike, a founding member, has been a Beach Boy his entire adult life, Bruce the better part of it. What part of that is "fake"?  (Keep in mind Mike owns the name for touring, which is why it's named the Beach Boys.) And, I suspect people go see Mike and Bruce, AKA the Beach Boys, because it is a great band playing great songs.

A small part of me, though, wouldn't be surprised that the writer of that peice took a little journalistic license and took Brian's comments about the next Beach Boys album a little out of context....Brian says that he would like to write a harder album...he didn't specifically say with The Beach Boys.  Anyway..just trying to keep an even head about this!    But mike's comments do sound promising.

Exactly because brian said this album and tour is closure for him.it is a little miracle if he can stay with them this whole tour,and fulfill this whole tour,we all know about brian's health.and al jardine also said this is for sure the last beach boys reunion.

Not everything in a magazine is true.Brian would never forget to mention Carl and Dennis as real beach boys even now they are gone ,he always mentions them ! He always tells in interviews Carl and Dennis are the real beach boys besides mike,Bruce,AL jardine and that it's too bad they are gone. He talked in several interviews about the current lineup from beach boys at that time of the interview,but he still always mentions Carl and Dennis as the real beach boys too in every interview if asked about it !

Thats how I saw it. Brian is pretty quick with dates. No hesitation at all in that clip.
