Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike & Bruce and Friend on Fox And Friends

I just saw m&b in Hampton Beach tonight. They mentioned their fox & friends appearance (which wa met with some boos). It was a very good, solid show, but definitely underwhelming compared to the 2012 reunion concert I saw in CT. Wild Honey was the highlight of the night - I felt like I was the only person in the audience singing along. (I was definitely the only one singing along to Disney girls). I have many random observations which I won't bore you with, but the best part for me was when my 7 year old asked me towards the end of the show whether they were going to play "That's Why God Made the Radio". When I told him probably not, he was sad and incredulous. He replied, very earnestly, "why not?? It was a big hit!"

I went cold turkey on this message board back in October, but I thought I'd log on today to complain about $80 Mike and Bruce tickets. And pow! Some fascinating news. I only read the first page of this thread, so I apologize if this has already been hashed out, but is there any way to know which shows Alan and Dave will be at? I would definitely shell out the $80 if all four are there (even though I still think that's pricey)
Anyway, very cool about Foskett. I just wish Alan and Dave were there as permanent members as well. Ah well, I guess that ship sailed a long, long time ago.

Good Vibrations. I believe that GV was meant to be a stand alone single and serve as a bridge from PS to Smile in the same way the little girl I once knew was a bridge from summer days to PS. I don't think BW originally thought of it as being part of Smile, and to the extent that it was to be included on that album, and it actually being included on Smiley Smile, was simply a crass and vain attempt to continue cashing in on that single and to create demand for the new album (even though by the time the album was released GV was almost a year old).
Good Vibrations for sure. I always skip over it when listening to this fascinating and highly enjoyable little album.

Girl Don't Tell Me hands down. I don't know why that song seems to be held in such high regard round these parts. The first time I heard it I absolutely cringed. It's a forced, awkward, fourth rate Beatles knock off tune. I just don't get it. It's probably one of the most un-Beach Boys song in their canon, and a blatant attempt to sound like the Beatles. Don't get it.

It's amazing to me to how angry people get on this board. We're talking about the BEACH BOYS for God's sake. Why can't we all get along? But then I realize that's probably not fair to expect or ask since the Beach Boys have done anything but. Now if only Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce, and Dave (and Blondie!) could get their asses back into the studio....

Wow… the Brianistas seem to be having a field day in the comments section beneath the interview.
This bit from the interview caught my attention:
MP: What's been your greatest struggle? ML: To coexist while watching the people I love choose less than life-supporting paths via drugs, alcohol or poor lifestyle decisions. There is so much to life; my heart breaks watching someone held captive by addiction.
His greatest struggle has been watching other people struggle with their addictions? I like Mike, but wow...

I just think the idea of Blondie "reuniting" with Brian is a little silly. In the interview Blondie basically says that his interaction with Brian was limited to being in the studio a couple times with him. It wasn't Brian who brought BC and RF in, and he never toured with them. My guess is that to the extent that Blondie bonded musically or personally with anyone in the group at all, it was with Dennis, Carl, or Mike, not Brian. So the idea of them "reuniting" is sill to me.
On a tangentially related point, I would love it if Brian, Al, David, and Blondie forcefully took over the "Beach Boys" name. It seems to me that they're more the Beach Boys than M&B. And maybe that would force Mike and Bruce to reunite with them, which is what my angle is, not what BAD's angle would be.
