Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Tell us about your Beach Boys collection

I hate it when people on Tumblr accuse me of not "supporting the artist" when I ask for media on there. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. I took a picture of my Beach Boys collection to prove a point and nobody's had jack to say since. I've got a ton of Beach Boys stuff, though, ranging from an almost complete vinyl album collection to tour programs to books to box sets to cds and dvds galore. I will make a list at a later time.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist

Is this all just stuff that's been "officially" released? Or does this list include stuff on bootlegs, as well? I would love to see a completed list that includes both. You know, like a list of all the non-albums tracks that are.... 'Available' to us if we really wanted them.

Love this comment on Facebook. Looks like SeaWorld is oblivious as to who is actually in the Beach Boys band they booked. But, you know, according to some people on here, you'd have to be LIVING UNDER A ROCK NOT TO KNOW IT'S NOT THE REUNION BAND. This is what I mean, of course we know. The rest of America? They bought tickets to what they thought was a reunion tour.... If the promoters can't even tell the difference, what makes us think that the average American who doesn't really care about the BB like we do would be able to?

Despite the Landy brainwash and the 80s production, BW88 is a really good BW solo album and he shines through all of the negative characteristics about it, giving it its longevity. Great songs on that one. Melt Away is a Brian Wilson gem. It showed he's definitely still "got it" in terms of writing music with artistic integrity. Beautiful harmonies.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Beach Boys 2012 Remasters!

I went to Walmart after work (no money at the moment, just wanted to see them and hold them in my hands), but they didn't have ANY of the new BB releases. Not even the 1-disc greatest hits.
I probably won't buy all of them next paycheck, but I at least want to try to get 50BO and 2-3 of the remasters (Sunflower and Surf's Up? Mmmm). I hope Best Buy still has them cheap next week.
My gf's also got Spotify, so I'll get to listen on there until then. Phew.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is anybody going to one of the Mike&Bruce gigs?

So I was thinking about seeing Mike and Bruce on New Years Eve. I didn't have money to buy tickets right away, but figured they wouldn't go too fast. I checked the other day and the tickets hadn't even been on sale for a week and both shows booked that night are close to sold out (literally 10 or less front spots, couple regions of nosebleed).
I can't help but think that a lot of those people thought it was a show for the real Beach Boys.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Probyn Gregory interview - new album, tour & grammy's info

Probyn got in trouble with who I'm assuming were Brian's people (for being genuinely honest, which is bs imo) and he asked for it to be removed from internet sources because of that. I don't know what he got in trouble about, but it's silly. I understand the bad publicity, but really, I'm sure if I asked the people sitting around me at the reunion show I went to if they heard about that Probyn Gregory interview, they'd respond asking "Probe what? Who?" even if it remained online.
