1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love & Mercy Film - All UK based fans on: July 11, 2015, 03:53:24 PM
Will be Monday before I get to see it. Unless I get the 10:00 showing on Saturday before work. Got to travel to Birmingham no showing in Wolverhampton.

Wow i thought i was the only BB/BW fan in wolverhampton! Im goin to london to watch it today with a friend to make a day of it. Looked at dudley but its not showing. Try cineworld in bently bridge
[/quote

Ah ha ... That makes two of us! Not on at Bentley Bridge so it's either Star City or Broad Street Cineworld in Brum(Birmingham U.K for those the other side of the pond).

Never thought to check the Dudley screenings, thought Lighthouse Cinema may have had it on in the Chubb building.

Comparing the different falsetto's on live versions of "Don't worry baby".

Can someone tell me where the early version comes from? Hollywood Bowl...ok, but certainly not 1963. It sounds different that what I remember being on the "beach Boys Concert" tapes and "Chicago '65"

I'm sure that's Stockholm November 1964, Carl's Rickenbacker is ringing through on it.

When my parents got a CD player in 1986 I was given a Bush portable record player and a pile of records.

In between the K-tel and Top of the Pops compilations was a mint copy of the 1966 Best of The Beach Boys, I played that album all through the six weeks holiday that summer. Also out that summer was the film Flight of the Navigator, fond memories of singing along to I Get Around in the cinema.

Still have both player and record, had the player refurbished but the vinyl has seen better times!

Sort of fell into here when I got the Internet, more a lurker than a regular poster.

Anyone had a delivery from Sainsburys? (Other than a crate of cornflakes?)!

Mine is here from Sainsburys, sat waiting post came no knock, was gutted .....

Then postie came back with it, he leaves the bulkiest items in the van. Just got it on now.
Order was placed 20th of July, priced at £63.99, free shipping.
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: MiC up for order on Amazon, August release on: July 20, 2013, 03:06:00 AM
I don't know how Sainsburys works, as in if it's like Amazon, you won't pay more than the pre-order price, and if it does drop you pay the lower price.

At that price I had to take a chance,it may rise.... It may fall.....
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: MiC up for order on Amazon, August release on: July 20, 2013, 02:51:42 AM
Just pre ordered at Sainsburys for £63.99.
I'm happy to pay that at just over a tenner for each CD.

You Tube blurb -

"Probyn Gregory - Multi-Instrumentalist Extraordinare, Debonaire, and Savoir Faire - visits with Caroline-up during the European 2012 Beach Boys Reunion Tour 'Celebration' in Mönchengladbach, Germany at the Warsteiner Hockey Arena. And damn if that boy is not charming as all git! (As in guitar)"

In other words an interview with Probyn in Germany last year.

Is this like the chamber that yourself and Carl visited that day?, it's the only image I could find when I searched for it.

After watching the video, I was reminded that the noise imitating the waves crashing is used to a similar effect by Jean Michel Jarre on the 1977 track Oxygène (Part VI). it's sped up a bit on Oxygène, but still sound very similar to me.

Many thanks to Stephen and Will C. for giving up time and patience in getting these videos on line for us fans.

COMMENT:  Ocean sounds during commentary . . .  one of my favorite ocean recordings.
