has Hawaiian Song been heard by more than a handful of people? was it ever booted?

Only the Doe-nly and a few others, alas. I would give my right ear to hear Hawaiian song.

In the style of Van Gogh, I would personally give my left ear...  Hawaiian song would be amazing to hear.

I personally like this song. It all depends on how you look at it.  When I was down, this song seemed very emotional and I felt so sad with the uncertain ending.  Now, it seems over the top... But still no reason to hate it.  Melodramatic, absolutely. But still a fine piece IMO.

It's Brian and someone else. If I had to guess, I wouldn't guess Mike, but it's somewhat possible. Doubtful, but possible.
 Like my face.

Definitely Brian... I think it could actually be mike too. Hard to tell.

while we're on the subject, here's a new mix i made which combines the demo and the track, but keeps them mostly separate. I quite prefer it this way

Very nicely done, I think you've hit the mark in which way to approach IIGS, I prefer it this way too.

I've read AGD's post twice now, and it made sense both times.

What is it with the recent influx? There's a search function on the board... sure, no one's perfect, but maybe some of the newbies should acquaint themselves with it...
I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my newbieness.

"I threw away my candy bar and I ate the wrapper, and when they told me what I did, I burst into laughter."
"Have you seen the grand coolie workin' on the railroad?"

YA know
the Grammy's should just be improved this year and ALL awards, every last one, be given to SMiLE.

The End.

We all wish, but the award will usually go to the worst, technologically altered voice.   I mean, the beach boys have never won a Grammy?   How is that even possible?   SMiLE deserves more recognition, I agree.

Back on to Wild Honey......

I am actually getting heavily into this album for the first time.  (I realize how INSANE that is.)  But man, this is some of the best pop/rock/whatever ever put to vinyl!

Can anyone tell me, who plays organ on the title track?  Nice!

Correct me if I'm wrong, (which someone undoubtedly will) but I think it was Bruce Johnston.

I really enjoy the one in Dada as well.

Well now that I've successfully derailed this thread, off to find some more to sabotage  Wink
11  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smile Sessions Box Set (2011) / Re: TSS - All things I Love to Say Dada on: November 17, 2011, 04:18:22 PM
Maybe i didn't read all these posts carefully but someone said it sounded like when brian was calling takes he was having fun.  The thought i have about the dada sessions is that they really show brian not caring as much. It seems to me that he's more apt to just say alright we've done a few takes lets keep it. This  really does seem like a man who just wants to be shot of the whole thing.

On 'Love To Say Dada (take 2) 2nd day' you can hear Brian in the studio, but someone else is in the booth calling takes.

And I think Brian really cared about the session...he was just going in a new direction....a more chillax atmosphere (hence the exotica vibe to Dada) - and that exotica vibe carried on to the Smiley sessions.
I've never seen smiley as exotic before. It's certainly very relaxed, but exotic?  Maybe on a few songs...  I'm curious what you mean.
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smile Sessions Box Set (2011) / Re: TSS - All things I Love to Say Dada on: November 16, 2011, 05:59:20 PM
I personally prefer  the GV box set version, I felt the TSS one was much too short. Also, I didn't feel the flown in 'jazz' vocals added anything to the song.  Just my opinion.

Am I the only one who used to think LOL stood for 'lots of love...'

"lame obnoxious loser". i got into a lot of fights over that. like real, physical fights involving golf clubs.

Wow... And I thought I was bad.

Am I the only one who used to think LOL stood for 'lots of love...' I love how easy going Wild honey is, it's very relaxing and almost bluesy. A definitely under appreciated BB album.
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys or solo songs that make you cry? on: November 16, 2011, 04:22:32 PM
Caroline, No gets me every time.  After going through the emotional ride pet sounds is, Brian's falsetto sounds so vulnerable and unsure... it's crushing. . Also, SU '67 did it the first couple of times.  I've listened to it some 500 times by now, so I can generally stifle the tears
