Does anyone know if there are any acoustic versions of "love and mercy" out there? could be a cover or a beach boys-related one. please let me know thanks:)
hi all, just letting you know I have a new episode up where I let you know how you can contribute your lovely voice and deep thoughts to my little beach boys podcast: http://www.thebeachboyspodcast.podbean.com
you know, in the past Iīve tried to share the beach boys music with people I love, thinking that surely they will eventually get how awsome it is, even tried to trick them into liking it, by not mentioning right away that is is the BBS, but it often lead to the kind of experience you mention; the hurt when they turn it off or express dislike. Nowdays, I actually prefer to keep the music to myself and not try to open peopleīs ears to it, it just doesnīt work. however, hope you have a different response and the compilation choices seem good, but just donīt put too much hope into it.
in hindsight itīs a bit sad it wasnīt more ambitious, they were still young and could do a lot. I love it just because itīs one of the first beach boys albums I got into as a child so it has sentimental value. contrary to some, I also like dennisī and brianīs rough voices on it, adds a bit of humanity and heart (and even pain)to some rather bland songs.
Very brave of Brian the way he keeps putting himself on display. He does seem to be aware of the fact that people are expecting, and would ever prefer, him to act differently sometimes. Still he goes on. The moments of intense clarity he shows sometimes ("It was only a lawsuit...) is common for someone who has the mental diagnosis he himself has claimed to have. But most of the time it must be very hard.
Iīm re-reading the excellent book "Back to the beach" edited by Kingsley Abbott, and have posted a review of sorts at http:://www.thebeachboyspodcast.podbean.com
hiya, if you want to share your opinion on Key of Disney via e-mail beachboyspodcast@gmail.com or go to thebeachboyspodcast.podbean.com I will share your thoughts on a future podcast episode. thanks!
As far as I know "region 2" is the european format so that should work fine. "region 1" is US and "region 0" is all. pretty sure about this. and of course, you could always watch it on the computer right?
Bruce Greenwood was a wonderful "Dennis" I think, even though Summer Dreams had so many faults. He just captured the soul. But Iīm looking forward to this, what with all the cred Aaron Eckhart has, and he was excellent in Rabbit Hole.
