1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New album info (as it rolls out...) on: May 10, 2012, 11:52:45 PM
Whatever happened to Frankie Avalon, the original version to Everything I Need and It's Over? Any of these would be really awesome to see...but I dont have my hopes up...

Well, Frankie Avalon is a rough demo from the Paley sessions. There are at least a couple of dozen other such songs. It doesn't look like any of them are on the new record.

Everything I Need was released on the Wilsons record in 1997. Jeff Foskett released a version with Brian that restored some of the original arrangement. Given that two versions are out, I'm not sure why anyone would want to release the song again.

And I'm not familiar with a Beach Boys song called "It's Over." There's one called "It's Over Now," which was released on the 1993 boxed set. Again, given that the song has been released, I'm not sure why it would be on the new album.

Thanks man. Been out of the bw loop for a little while. Was not awre of the 97 version of EIN. Neat version. Something about the rough version of the other demo i like...this one is great. found it on youtube. Really refined. Great stuff.

Yes, "Its over now" is what i meant. Wow what a song...i get your point on all of these. I guess I just felt like these songs never got there debut as beach boys material. IOV from 93 box is the carl wilson version correct? Call me crazy but I like the song better being banged out on piano like on the demos...

sorry...this thread isn't for my opinion on such matters...back to topic
Can someone summarize where things are at now with this album? Whats the release date?...

Heartical Don and Alex-  Yeah, the beach boys should play on another network for just those reasons alone...That would be so artistic...

"Cabinessence" can only be understood by the mainstream networks that are economically illiterate, race baiting and promoting of government spending that our children's children will have to pay for...(spending 4X more than the previous administration they criticized justly)

I dont see how any person that holds the US constitution and the rights of man in high regard could possibly like cabinessence...those stupid conservatives...I mean they gave us Bach,Handel, and Mozart but that stuff is not "progressive" enough...

Angry white conservatives, like me, dont like art music. that is why i am on this site. that is why I love smile and watch Fox. I hate art...

I have always had a problem with this claim.

Though a person's energy level may naturally be stronger when he is younger, some of the most brilliant men and women have contributed the genius they are known for later in life...In music, the classical composers are especially this way. They seemed to be like wine and progressed with age.
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Is there a definitive meaning to "Wonderful"? on: November 30, 2006, 10:04:56 PM
Hi, I was just wanting to ask you all the meaning of "wonderful". Such a great song, but awhile back I heard  a interpretation that was kind of "weird", so I was wondering if yall could comment.thanks

What comment did Brian make at Ringo's birthday party?

I wish Brian and his organization would figure out that people see Brian as a legendary wacked out musical genius and that they should run with that image . He should not concern himself with being "hip" or more listener-friendly to the public. Basicly, he should do whatever he wants to do without worrying about things not related to the music.

Brian sounds really good. He doesn't sound crazy. He sounds like he did in the 60's. But I guess yall are probably right with the pitch thing. Even if his voice was lower, he seemed to have a good spirit.

What ever happened to VDP? I thought I heard they were going to work on some tunes. Is that not happening?

Let me say that some of these songs can be song like a chant  and the IV can be avoided. But it sounds really weak.

I think you could omit the IV and get away with it........... Smiley

You could just stay on the I. I must admit it is hard to resist that IV!......I think I'll have to agree with you.
