Thank you very much for this Barnyard track, it's really great  Grin

At the record store here in Central New York there was a HUGE in store display with multiple Box Sets and 2-CD editions.

Though I must say, I'm a bit disappointed with the #27 position.  BWPS debuted at #13 for a chart stay of 17 weeks, and in the UK it debuted at #7 and went gold.  What's up with that? Why didn't all the people that bought BWPS buy the actual release?! I suppose it had to do with the pricing perhaps? The two disk edition isn't cheap, and I haven't seen any single disk editions...

just look at it this way. everyone's waiting for Smile to come out.

2004: It's finally here! YAY!
2011: Just kidding, now it's finally here. yay.

Also, people bought a lot more CDs in 2004 than they do now. You couldn't find full albums on the internet for free anywhere near as easily as you can in 2011.

I suppose that makes sense, but if you're someone who was interested in Brian's project in 2004, I would think you would want to actually purchase at least the 2-disk edition.  Anyone who bought that album in 2004 I would assume would be a pretty die-hard Beach Boys fan.

On what track on the box can this vocal snippet of Brian singing an alternate melody be found?

I absolutely loved this track. I love the percussion, and I love the extended "bridge" if that's what you want to call it. The build up during that bit to the refrain is spectacular.

A 10! Just like I predicted in the other thread! How could it have gotten any less?  Roll Eyes

All that really matters is that Pitchfork will give this a 10.0/10  Grin

They seem to adore the Beach Boys

I'm expecting more of a 9.5

I disagree, they gave Smiley Smile a 9.1 or whatever, and raved about Smile in that review. They talked about it trumping Pepper and all that, and in order to stay in line with that review and that rating (I know consistency may not be Pitchfork's greatest asset) they're obliged to give it a ten.

However, when they rate their "box" sets, they also consider value. That being said, if they rate the album solely as the album itself, andnot the entire box set, it will surely receive a ten.
