The song's real fine. Well, it's not their masterpiece, but it's definitely well-crafted concerning it's been a long time since they last performed together. I'm really glad they're back :D

IT's got a little bit of "Good Timin' thrown in for good measure... if you listen to the amazon sample towards the end, Brian does with his 'crazy' voice "whooo oohhh ohhhh!!" instead of "You need good Timin!"  Kinda takes 30 years off of him for a minute there Smiley
Yeah, I can hear it too. The chorus seems to be recorded in a similar way.

I don't remember being this excited about something in my whole life :D
After hearing this short fragment I'm perfectly sure it's gonna be great and can't wait to hear the full version.

I feel like I'm 13 or something. Incredible :D
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson In The Key Of Disney available for pre-order from Amazon on: September 12, 2011, 01:51:08 AM
Totally agree. I don't know who comes up with these release dates, but I don't think it's a good strategy, even if terms of marketing. Maybe it's not the most important thing, but because of it both albums are most likely to underperform on the charts.

The album cover is quite cheesy. The Gershwin one was really nice, but here they kind of overcolored it.
The track listing is not a perfect one, but this "Whistle While You Work" song sounds really nice, so I'm not that anxious about it as I was when I first found out about it Smiley

A few years ago I thought that "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" described perfectly how I felt, but later I realized I probably had got a bit overemphasized image of myself. Right now I'm thinking "Vega-Tables". I seem to eat the wrapper every time.

Also "A Day in the Life of a Tree" and "Breakaway" quite fit.

For me this album is a journey to a whole different world, another level. Bizarre and psychedelic. Using a great range of classical instruments in an atmosphere of strangeness creates an impression of perfect harmony and anxiety at the same time. One of my definite favorites.

I think that to qualify for a Grammy the album has to be released before September.

I really don't like the idea of this movie happening. All these modern shows with pop covers of classic songs are horrible, from Across the Universe to Glee. Whereas American Graffiti was great of course Smiley

We'll see Cheesy Does the laughing icon indicate I should be afraid? Cheesy
Right now I'm a bit overwhelmed by the size of the board, and some of the discussions Smiley

Purple Chick's "SMiLE" is very conventional as it borrows the whole scheme from the 2004 Brian's rework, and I'm glad someone's intended to reconstruct it this way from the original tapes. It seems more down to earth though. I'm not sure about "flat", but there's definitely something to it. I enjoy it on a different level than the "AlternateBrianWilson Presents Smile" which is more dimensional, complex, and adventurous. At least I feel adventurous listening to it Cheesy

As much as I love some of the Ronettes songs, their version of "I Can Hear Music" is utterly hopeless.
But Zooey's done a great job here. At first I fought my way through this version, as I was used to the Beach Boys', and this "campfire" guitar made it sound uninspired, or even a bit tacky. But after some listening I really started to enjoy it. The whole new She & Him album is worth checking out. It remains contemporary while incorporating melodies, and song patterns taken from the 60s Smiley

I guess "I Can Hear Music" might be one of the most often listened Beach Boys' songs by me (I won't dare call it one of my favorites as that's changing overnight).

Sorry for refreshing an old topic, but I couldn't stop myself Grin

I gotta admit that out of many many various "SMiLE" bootlegs I've heard, this one is my favorite by far! Smiley
The only thing that sometimes puts me off a bit is that the songs are mixed into 3 large pieces and it's hard to "navigate" through this version. But on the other side I believe this mixing creates some of its grandeur. Anyway, great job Smiley
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / Welcome to the Smiley Smile board / Hi there! on: April 24, 2011, 02:04:22 PM
I've been reading the board quite for a while now, and finally decided to register, and hopefully join the discussion sometimes Smiley I listen a lot to all kinds of music, but the Beach Boys are my ultimate favorite band and I think it's never gonna change. I'm from Poland where the Beach Boys are still relatively unknown as (unlike the Beatles) they were absent from the media in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I really don't like writing about myself cause I always run out of ideas somewhere halfway the post. Basically I just wanted to say hello Smiley
