Why should Myspace or Facebook be respected anyway? They're just stupid social networking sites that waste peoples time.
In some cases you may be right (that's certainly true of many users), but the ability to easily and conveniently stay connected with people all over the world is hardly a waste of time. Social networking isn't all bad. You could easily and conveniently stay connected with people all over the world before "social networking" sites with something called 'email'.

Love/Wilson is nothing like Lennon/McCartney.
Lennon and McCartney were excellent singers, songwriters, lyricists and musicians in their own right.
Wilson, an excellent singer, songwriter, musician and producer.
Love, a good eye for all things commercial, a mediocre lyricist, good singer, no creative vision and damn lucky he's related to Brian.

Dennis kept silent out of fear for his own life, but some time after the Family was convicted and sentenced he did say, and I paraphrase "I know the real reason why they did it and one day I'll write a book about it".
If Dennis didn't die so soon I doubt he would have kept it all to himself.
EDIT: Found the quote: "I know why Charles Manson did what he did," said Dennis. "Someday, I'll tell the world. I'll write a book and explain why he did it.""

I guess the main question is did Brian and VDP set out consciously to have spiritual enlightenment as a central theme or can it simply be interpreted that way?
When Brian worked with Tony he said that they would spend a lot of time talking and exploring a theme before they worked on a song. Often talking for hours. It makes sense Brian would have continued this with VDP.
We know Brian was into a lot of New Age stuff and psychedelics, as was popular among the more "hip" circles and during a time when people like Alan Watts were talking extensively on Eastern philosophy. It was part of the atmosphere at the time and these ideas and concepts were mirrored in lots of popular and underground music.
Brian mentioned in 1976 that he had heard drugs were the new messiah back in the 60s, and he agreed to a certain extent (if it wasn't for his own personal troubles with them). So you can surmise that Brian was very much caught up in all of this, and the idea that drug use can induce religious experiences, and the spiritual and so on. I would guess that having actually experienced a spiritual trip himself, certainly would have been all he needed to confirm his beliefs. We know he's taken LSD a few times, and if any of you have ever tried it you'll be aware of the great positive effects it can have on someone in the long-term, on your perspective, attitude and feelings.
As an artist, Brian's interests are going to inform his work, and like we saw with Pet Sounds, he was looking inward and attempting to explore subjects that resonated with him emotionally. On his path to form his personal philosophies and grow as an artist and a person there is no doubt these things made its way into his music.
I can disagree with Bill's interpretations of lyrics and interview segments, but that doesn't detract from the main argument.
And so, the idea that Brian and VDP consciously set out to capture/induce/inform spiritual enlightenment really doesn't seem far-fetched to me at all.

Things like being sorry for offending someone don't feature in that dichotomy, then?
If you insulted me, my family and my beliefs in a mean spirited way behind my back, only for me to hear about it through the grapevine - I may very well accept the apology, but I'd still think you're two-faced.

I find that with most dancing to music in situations like this, if you turn off the sound and just look at participants jumping up and down, the whole ludicrousness of dancing to music, removed from its musical context, is revealed as the farce that it is. However, on this occasion, the ludicrousness is apparent without having to turn off the music.
Thanks for posting...

Geez, everyone is a smart-ass critic... No one had mentioned the identity of the earlier seller (DB) in this thread. Defunct or not, the link contains relevant information.
Yeah, his email address is on there.

I think that's just sloppy sentence construction on the part of Jeff - he's referring to touring with the group, but mentions Denny's death as a problem with that era. The touring was the positive experience.... Although he must have been touring with a different band Also, could anyone else get on the board during the weekend? Nope, was down. It was terrible Yeah I spent all weekend with the shakes. Awful withdrawals. Glad to be back, though and I enjoyed the interview, too.

Being a minority with our hardcore love of The Beach Boys, you would think at the very least that we would be more friendly and courteous to each other. We come together here to share our love of the band and music, yet we rip each other incessantly. Let's all stop acting like a-holes to each other. Let's Be Friends!
Go hug a rainbow, hippy!!
