Well, yeah, i live in Ohio, and Kettering is kind of like a suburb of Dayton, and again, why didn't they pick someplace else?

Is there any chance that Brian does another Pet Sounds tour?

Anything's possible, but they said in 2006 that those would be the last ever Pet Sounds shows, and haven't shown much inclination to go back on that.

In general, Brian's tours now seem to fall into two types -- performing whatever his latest album is, and straight greatest-hits shows.
What do you think the Ohio show in July will be?
That's a tough call since Al and Dave will be there too.

Damn good question, given that he seems to be recording right now…  wonder if there'll be a release before the gig?

Given the venue and location, I'm betting meat & potatoes GH.

What's that supposed to mean?
It means that the setlist would mainly consist of well known hits.

No, i mean, what is he implying about the venue and location?

it's nowheresville man

Really? Dayton, OH, Nowheresville? It must be special to them since it's the only place they picked

Whoa, yeah, hadn't seen that one. You can definitely see the pride Mike has for his  beard Grin

Wasn't that supposed to be the Jack Benny Show appearence? Oddly enough, Brian was there and the vocals were live. I'm sure we all remember Brian's sharp E flat, yikes!

Hi everyone,

My name's Austin (not the screen name "Austin" though). I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I've been on here a little while, and thought it might be fun for some of us to actually discuss the group through an online radio show. I set up a program called Beach Boys Babble over at Blog Talk Radio. The first show is tomorrow at 6:30pm EST. Sorry for the short notice, but if you'd like to call in you're more than welcome to. Feel free to use Skype as well. I'll be talking about the latest BB news and hopefully we can get a good discussion going and hear some opinions. This first show is kind of an experiment. It's only a half hour long, and I'll make it longer once I see some growth in interest. I'm also looking to take on a co-host as well if anyone is interested, feel free to email me at beachboysbabble@gmail.com . Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from some of you tomorrow.

I'm 21 and I'm happy to say I've know none of the performers so far

I'm right there with you, man

Whoa! The last surviving remnants of Brian's original voice, well it seems like it:

You should check his covers out. I know what you mean though, and those smileys, ugh...it's like...grow up. Just kidding, let's get back to some meaningful conversation.
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Lei'd In Hawaii on: July 21, 2011, 12:29:11 PM
Not meaning this in a sarcastic way, but care to share some of these snide remarks? All I've seen this guy do is post some of his awesome BB covers.

Oh, and why has AGD been calling everyone that questions him a troll? Just sayin', we all need a little devil's advocate every now and then.

Back to the topic at hand though, I remember I was so psyched about hearing young Brian singing Wouldn't It Be Nice live, then I heard it, and who do they give the lead to? Why, none other than Mr. Algonquin Q. Jardine of course  Sad
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Walk Hard_Dewey Cox- Brian Wilson references- on: July 17, 2011, 10:25:16 PM
I love the reference to the Brian/Van Dyke picture, with Brian showing him the chord on the Rickenbacker.  LOL

So Al co-wrote Forever, huh?
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Retiring ? on: May 10, 2011, 05:26:00 PM
I, for one, would like to see Brian truly "solo". Picture it: Brian and a piano, period. I'm sorry, but Jeff Foskett's voice always crashes the party. You think Brian would play in my living room?
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: March 14, 2011, 12:21:09 PM
I'm with Jonas on this one. That's Brian's piano playing by the way, octave bass and all. Listen to Brian's singing at the beginning of the Spring Promo with Diane and Brian. You'll hear it, we did. Smiley

Speaking of Stevie Riks, he has finally gotten around to doing an impression of a certain Beach Boy...

I would love to hear that live version of "In the Back of My Mind" if someone could point me in the direction of it. Sorry I know its cheesy Grin
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love on Brian's singing on: December 19, 2010, 12:14:32 AM
That was a great quote. Props on the Foskett comment by the way. I can't stand the guy's falsetto either. As for Mike's comment, Brian is almost 70 and his voice has taken quite a beating, by means of cocaine, tobacco, Landy drugs, etc. I think the equipment is shot beyond repair, if you know what I mean. Brian's voice is an entirely different instrument. To quote some song I heard, it's sad to watch a sweet thing die.  Cry

On a brighter note, Mike, Bruce, and Al's voices haven't drastically changed, as far as I can tell.

Also, there are people like this guy:

G'day indeed Wink

Maybe Andrew should just start his own board

I thought he started this one.

According to this web site,

http://www.earcandymag.com/smileshop-2005.htm

it was Jon Hunt and John Lane.

(you're welcome Andrew)  angel

24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Do you celebrate the various BB members' birthdays? on: October 29, 2010, 01:23:21 PM
No, I don't celebrate other peoples birthdays unless I'm invited for the party. That would be a very very creepy thing to do.
One exeption. I celebrate christmas.

Hahaha!  Grin Amen, for us normies
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Mike's Falsetto? on: October 01, 2010, 05:40:43 PM
Other than parts here and there on All I Wanna Do, can anybody recall any examples of Mike's falsetto (or high range) in the past?

I recall hearing about a version of Please Let Me Wonder with Mike on lead, and hearing that it sounded strange.  Grin
