1  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Mike & Bruce FREE CONCERT! on: January 12, 2010, 10:12:54 PM
It's gone beyond insulting by now. If Mike Love, after 5 decades fronting one of the biggest bands in history, doesn't have enough drawing power from his name alone and has to whore out the BB's name and drag it through the mud, he deserves every disparaging word thrown his way. And Bruce, oh, Bruce, why? What happened?
I would go see this show only if Mike Love paid me $10, 000.
All hail the beautiful Wilson brothers.

Amazing. You got me.

Just one more comment: I think my comment about sound, though sincere, should not be taken as anything more than one person's opinion. After reading my last post, I realize that the subject I mention is completely subjective. Analogy guy I am: I like chocolate with almonds, some people don't.

It wasn't even worth my mentioning. I don't mean to, nor do I want to, rain on your parade. What I said was trivial. I wish there were more composers like you. Keep on delivering the sweet vibes. If it feels right, it must be.

The influence is obvious and the music is great. You have a hip style. I wish, though, that you used (or possibly, better said, had access) to more organic, natural sounds. Please don't take this as an unfair criticism. It is rare for me to listen to every song on a MySpace page like I did with yours'. The music truly is wonderful and inspiring, patently borne of a creative soul. We're all, here, aficionados of sublime music, and I appreciate the marvelous qualities of your art.  I'm sure this could easily be interpreted as nitpicking, but I wouldn't have commented unless I thought the music was great. I've always been a stickler for sound - not necessarily as in recording, but of inherent tone and timbre. To my ears, I hear a lot of cold, impersonal tones, plunked out of a keyboard without much consideration, unlike the music itself.  I can't enjoy music for the notes, rhythm, and performance alone; I have to enjoy the sounds that coveys it. I could liken it to watching my favourite movie shown in nothing but shades of pink, or possibly neon/nuclear green. Or, closer to home: If Brian Wilson presented SMiLE with the same arrangement except that all the backing tracks were done played with General Midi sounds. I could appreciate the music but couldn't really enjoy it or ever listen to it.
That being said, is an extreme example and I wouldn't say that about your tracks. Ultimately, I want to say well done and keep up the good work. And I must stress that your music is a breath of fresh air, which seems harder and harder to find these days. I look forward to hearing more. Cheers, my friend.

I'm dying to hear this album. Love the cover. Apparently it has a similar flavour to Ray Conniff.
