I AM VERY CONFUSE!!!! Why did you closed the old thread, (and I was happy with that, asking longtime ago), to open the same here with the same crap and bullsh*t and the same Phil... What does it mean? There is no interest to start over and over again and again the same arguments. THANK YOU!

Freaking unbelievable! "War" has started again... so violent quotes, threats, liars... for what? It was supposed to be a wonderful news, a giant event for all the 'fans', I don't to think what would happen if some of you have guns, or about the whole mess behind the music store when it will be release. Are you gonna start a fight to buy the limited box set? I hope people who are fighting for human rights and peace all over the word will never read this thread. Maybe it is time to rename Smile to Dumb Angel, it makes more sense and sounds more appropriate.
Well, at least YOU'RE not overreacting to anything. Thank goodness for that. So true! I prefere to ignore some of the 'attacks' and inapropiate words I read here and there. Anger, heinous words and behaviour doesnt have a place here. Especially when we speak about Smile and music in particular.

Still waiting for the release of the release date and when it will be known, you will waiting for the smile sessions to be release. Or, maybe in september or november or december, Capitol will release the track list of the box set; and after in december Capitol will anounce the official release of the box set. And don't forget "The Smile That You Send Out Returns To You".

Like he said, Smile was intended to be an album with sketches, sound effects, chants, instrumental part and lots of humour, it makes sense. It was maybe also inspired by Jan & Dean "Filet of Soul" and "Jan & Dean Meet Batman".
Zappa. Smile has a definite streak running through it that comes from Freak Out! . It's likely Brian was familiar considering their mutual friends. And the closest you'll get to a finished Smile? Zappa's Absolutely Free and We're Only in it for the Money, though both artists have quite different personalities. As far as I know, Zappa's "Freak out" is a big influence for the Beatles, dunno, or never seen anywhere it was an influence to BW. Though, this is totally possible.

I read this a long time ago in Domenic Priore's "Look, Listen, Vibrate, Smile" book which described in detail all of the smile songs.
That book contains the odd example of Dom posting his dreams in print as fact. Terrific book, indispensable to researchers, but also contains one or two fantasies.
yes indeed, the book contains some inaccuracies about facts and photos. But it is as you said indispensable!

First time I heard "the swedish frog" segment, I heard "swedish girl" and it made sense with the orgasmic noise and climax.
Most of the "chants", "noises" have been recorded with his gang (Van Dyke Park, Michael Vosse, Jule Siegel, David Anderle...), I was wondering about who was the guys we can hear in the "swedish frog" segment. Only the Beach Boys or the 'gang'? or both?
I always thought, and still thinking, that this segment was a good example to show how Brian intended to include "psychedelic sounds", "chants", sound effects"... into the Smile album.
As he did with the "animal noises" in Barnyard, "you're under arrest" in H&V, the chewing noise and other "crazy" noises in Vega Tables, the "water chants", "the wind chants", the "hawaiian chants", the crakling noise in Fire....
Like he said, Smile was intended to be an album with sketches, sound effects, chants, instrumental part and lots of humour, it makes sense. It was maybe also inspired by Jan & Dean "Filet of Soul" and "Jan & Dean Meet Batman".

This thread is a great example of why the Smile tapes are best left unreleased. Some people just do not deserve them.
AGREE! silly, boring, stupid, insulting... this thread is now useless; all the contrary of SMiLE.Entitlement is a dangerous thing; it is an epidemic comparable to cancer among Beach Boys fans. A goodly amount of the discourse here is based on the fact that anyone who has a positive outlook on the box set's release is committing Orwellian "thoughtcrime". I'd say that's all well and good. When the box set comes out, I'll see all the naysayers in Room 101. I'll have a bunch of my finest rats there, too. I'm still thinking this thread should have been closed, maybe I'm wrong...
