Hi Jim.
I'm Deb, nerd on Beach Boys live stuff.
I never bought your book but read free samples on google, I'm like interested on the songs that the boys performed live in they early years and I'm making a list of things the Beach Boys (could have) performed live in 1961-1963.

When The Beach Boys played the Pittsfield Boys Club in 1968, I got to chat with Carl before the show in the dressing room.  When I asked him what he was listening to he told me Cream, which surprised me!
1968 Shocked? What was the setlist?

WOWIE, What a boxset.
6  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smile Reference Threads / Re: 12-String Electric Guitar on Beach Boys Records on: April 04, 2020, 06:28:45 AM
I think that there is some footage of the Baldwin in the 1966 in the TILT Tv appearance being used by Carl. Also he switched 6 string guitar and 12 string guitar in 1966 during onstage.
7  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys In London Film on: March 24, 2020, 01:39:06 PM
I have the footage.

The silent footage is actually the outtakes of the original 20 minutes documentary (That means that the scenes of the documentaries are cut on the DVD released).

Peter Whitehead shooted at the Airport, Fans pursuing the limo of the beach boys (filming in the balcons), Backstages and Performances of The Beach Boys at The Finsbury Astoria (Darker footage and Al playing acoustic) and Hammersmith Odeon (Brighter footage and Al playing red Strato), The Beach Boys in 2 cars traveling and in the Please Please Me stairs building, Al Jardine and Dennis Wilson buying jackets and instruments in Portobello Road  and unrelated London footage (Includes timelapse!!!) for the documentary. Also there some random psycholedical footage like: random firecrackers, shaky footage from a place called the bible and footage of the opening act ass, I guess theses were made for the Good Vibrations Video they where planning making. to end there is also footage of newspapers talking about the Beach Boys.

Unfortunately the complete footage isn't avaliable, there is missing the shots of the beat club good vibes video.

Actually is easy to guess the songs they are performing in the concerts and if you pause you can see the setlist in the part where you can see the boys making it (Here a cheat):
1-Help Me Rhonda
2-I Get Around
3-Papa Oom Mow Mow/Barbara Ann (According to the setlist, a medley)
4-Sloop John B
5-California Girls
6-You're So Good To Me
7-Graduation Day (The Highlight)
8-God Only Know (Unfortunately Peter filmed a very small snippet of the song)
9-Good Vibrations
10-Wouldn't It Be Nice (Apparently an encore)

I probably have said it before but your videos are really great.

Another thing that has not a lot to do with the video: I think "'til I die" fits the artwork of the "Surf's up"-album beautifully.

I think that Surf Up atwork fits perfectly with all the album.

I love the Twien Tv appearance, That's Miming Gold (Well you can hear some live vocals in the Barbara Ann clip). Some footage of the Stadhalle is seen in the European Tour documentary (Set to I Get Around). We can't forget the Musik For Jeung Leuten Tv Appearance where they performed Bluebirds over the Mountain and I Can Hear music, I have a partial Bluebirds clip and Vik Kettle shooted some footage during the I Can Hear Music taping (Shown between the Beat Club footage), Reelin in the years alledgely have the whole thing. I want to know more about the Settevoci tv programa, What they performed and those things.
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Noven Jaisi on: October 28, 2019, 04:07:18 AM
That footage has not appeared in any public medium, only clips on documentaries as Endless Harmony.

As for avaliable footage of Early 70's : Something Else (Good Vibrations and Cotton Fields),  David Frost Show (Wouldn't It Be Nice and Cool Cool Water), Pop 2 (Country Air, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Cell Block nš9, Their Hearts were full of Spring, Cottonfields, It's About Time), Good Vibrations From Central Park (Heroes and Villains, Okie from Muskosgee, Forever, It's About Time, I Get Around, Good Vibrations), OGWT (You Need A Mess of Help), Music Unlimited (Don't Go Near The Water, You Need a Mess of Help), Good Vibrations from London (Do It Again, Wild Honey, Help Me Rhonda), Chicago New Year Rockin Eve (Good Vibrations, Darlin, Wishin You Were Here, Surfer Girl).

That If We add Clips of Documentaries: To the 1972-73 footage we can add the 1971 rally footage that appeared on youtube and in An American Band (Set to Student Demostration Time). Add Astroray Super 8 Movies and we can end With Billy Hinsche DVD.

That's Much, 85% of the things I told you are in youtube.

Surely from the lots of concert they shooted for the In Concert LP AD. That includes the Santa Barbara clip of Endless harmony doc (Sail on Sailor)

I wonder if the violin bass use had to do with this time period where the band well and truly didn't have anybody that was playing bass enough to feel super comfy on a standard scale bass?  Not that it's that hard to adjust, but if you're not playing a lot of bass, having a 30" scale bass makes it that much easier to play.  The band also picked up at least one mustang bass in the late 60s or early 70s, as seen here:

Just a thought!

Maybe but the only time i saw that bass is in the TILT TV performance, and that photo of Bruce is from the same performance, in London 1966 footage (Shooted like 2 months after) he is wearing the white fender bass as in other footage of Bruce live.
19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Gear on: September 25, 2019, 07:51:42 AM
Although Reelin in the years archive claims to have both Top of the pops and Toppop appearances.

They also appeared on top of the pops in 1968 miming to Do It Again.

Coming back to the Gear theme, in the TILT Good Vibrations promo(The 1966 rehearsal footage that is included in a lot of documentaries)  we can see some gear not included here, those are: a Violin shaped bass (definitely not the McCartney one) and a Guitar that Carl is seen performing at one scene. In that clip we can also see closeups of Bruce Organ.

Forgot to mention this TV appearance was from November 18, 1970 on "Top of the Pops" in the UK:

They mimed to "Tears in the Morning" indeed; I'm curious if there's any chance they did any other numbers. Was it typical to just do one song on TOTP at that time?

Also funny that they went to the trouble to have Mike playing something that seemed to vaguely match the recording, yet Carl and Al just play two electric guitars and Bruce doesn't have any sort of keyboard or organ or piano.

This seems to be the audio of that performance. Though it says Dec. 15th:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2L0KAlwTTk

Not the same Tv Appearance, one is Top of The Pops and the audio one is Dutch Toppop.

Yes, I have the 1968 footage in my collection, but the 1969 is unedited beside some clips seen in documentaries. An american band has plenty of errors, Brighton 1968.
