Marilyn cut a demo of a (to my knowledge) still-unreleased Jackie DeShannon / Carole Bayer Sager tune, "It's Good to Know You Know," produced by DeShannon.  An acetate exists.

I have that Artisan Sound Recorders acetate in my collection. Do you have more info about the recording? The label states In House Production? Do you have a (approximate) recording date?

79  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Laughing Gravy's \ on: April 05, 2011, 04:08:01 AM
It was recorded by Dean, Joe Osborne and Larry Knetchel in Osborne's garage studio. Recorded circa June 1967

Though the label of UA 50859 (erroneously) states "recorded fall ´68".

So, which one is on "Pet projects"?

It´s the version released as UA 50859 by Jan & Dean.

I don't know why I thought it was that...did It's OK get re-released another time and chart sometime in the 80s?.
It was released as the flip side of "It´s Gettin´ Late" in 1985; the single charted at # 82 in the Billboard charts.
81  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: BW & Rodney Bingenheimer on: March 07, 2011, 08:20:27 AM
Did Brian write the song?

written by Brian Wilson & Andy Paley

When was it recorded?

probably spring 2001

It´s not only "multi-track Brian", but also Andy and Jeff Foskett on vocals.

Was the Honeys' song Come To Me written and/or produced by Murry?
Wait, was it a Honeys song or an American Spring song?
Was this around the sporadic time of Breakaway?

Recorded 12/2/68, written, arranged & produced by Murry at Sunset.

Arranged by Rick Henn, I think.

Why do I have this uncomfortable feeling that Stamos is going to show at this bash ?  Crap, I hope not.

In vain!

That is footage from the winter European tour that I think produced the Czech footage. Really wonderful!

All footage with Carl was shot at Parkhotel Bremen, Germany, on December 16, 1968. The Czech concerts took place in 1969.

On the subject of "Live In London", has anybody heard of a reissue of sort of the Beach Boys' Live In London, recorded at the London Pallidium and Astoria Flnsbury Park in December, 1968? Supposedly, the set includes a DVD, a CD, and a book. I read somewhere that there's a documentary of the 1968 European Tour; about an hour's worth of video. I read about this somewhere about a year ago.

here you´ll find some details about this boot:

Curious Amount of Covers- I'm wondering if he's ever discussed how many cover he is responsible for in the Beach Boy catalog, whether it's a lead vocal or production or his idea. I think the list goes as: Cotton Fields, Sloop John B, School Days, Peggy Sue, Runaway, Crocodile Rock, The Times They are Changin', Lady Liberty (to an extent), and Shake, Rattle, and Roll.

And come to think of it, a lot of Al's "originals" aren't all that original.
- At My Window: loosely based on ''Raspberries, Strawberries' by the Kingston Trio.
- Beaks of Eagles: features a poem by Robinson Jeffers.
- California: bassline sounds an awful lot like the one from California Girls.
- Christmas Time is Here Again: Peggy Sue with new lyrics.
- Kona Coast: chorus borrows heavily from Hawaii.
- Lady Lynda: based on Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach.
- California Calling: Surfin' USA Part 2.
- Island Girl: loosely based on Whispering Bells by the Del-Vikins.
- PT Cruiser: a total rip-off of Shut Down and Little GTO.

one more very evident example for "using" someone else´s song:

 - Lookin´ At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song): The Wanderer (by the Kingston Trio)

Some great pics on that video. Can anyone provide dates and context for the following ones?

- 0:02 to 0:12: Brian wearing a coat and holding what looks like a thin microphone
- 1:01 to 1:30: Brian singing with Marilyn & Diane, all of them wearing psychedelic clothes
- 1:31 to 1:45: A heavier, lightly bearded Brian at a mixing console (1973 Spring session?)
- 2:15 to 2:19: Brian with a blonde girl (Marilyn?)
- 3:20 to 3:25: Brian with one of his dogs
- 3:36 to 3:45: Brian at the drum kit. Is this the "Hal Blaine" performance that Stephen Desper witnessed and later erased at Brian's request?

- 1:01 to 1:30: Brian singing with Marilyn & Diane, all of them wearing psychedelic clothes         Whiskey -A-Go-Go
- 2:15 to 2:19: Brian with a blonde girl (Marilyn?)         Ginger

That´s a blonde Marilyn.

"Wich Stand" (spelled Whitch on the AFM sheet) was recorded on August 5, 1963 at Gold Star Studios, along with "Girlie" and "Hot Harp" (featuring Maureen Love).
The finished master was submitted to Jim Economides at Capitol Records who declined to release it.
97  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Setlist from Brian's first Australian show on: November 03, 2010, 09:41:48 AM
If this really is the setlist,  congratulate. It takes some balls not to do "Surfin USA" or "Barbara Ann". Not that I have a problem with that....

I think the encores are missing as someone posted "Love And Mercy" from Adelaide on YouTube:

98  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys on 1982 Elton John single? on: November 03, 2010, 06:21:45 AM
Also, from the March 1980 edition of the "Add Some Music" fanzine:  "Some Beach Boys helped out on backing vocals for an upcoming Elton John album.  Al and possibly another Beach Boy or two will appear on the next John Stewart album".  Any word on either of these?

Bruce Johnston, Curt Becher, Joe Chemay, Jon Joyce, Peter Noone & Toni Tennille sang background vocals on "Dear God" from the 21 At 33 album in 1980.

I have no idea about Al & John Stewart.
99  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys on 1982 Elton John single? on: November 03, 2010, 05:25:55 AM
Actually it´s a cover of Bo Diddley´s (song) "Cadillac" which was intended for a non-album single in the fall of 1975. Btw., not only mentioned by BE, but also to be found in books about EJ.
100  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys on 1982 Elton John single? on: November 03, 2010, 02:05:15 AM
According to the credits the backing vocals are by Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson.
