I'm listening to this album now, haven't gotten past track three cause I'm diggin that bari sax in the beginning of Some Of Your Love (due to the fact that I play the bari sax but anyhow...) Some reason the song gives off a "Roller Skatin' Child" feel, but I dig it a lot. I also like that rockin' piano twoards the end there. "Livin' With A Heartache" has a great lead from Carl, another good tune Imo. The title track is much better on the Knewborth live cd, the studio version isn't that great. I may go on and listen and review the album tomorrow, but this is as far as I've gotten.

Just recently got this. The backing voices are beautiful. I was watching a tape recording of the studio footage and it's hard to watch all the boys (well mostly just seeing Brian and Mike) back in the studio cracking up and singing together again, and then soon afterwards they separated. But I enjoyed watching it though. There isn't anything extremley good on this, Caroline No is good but all the others are just like the originals, just different leads. I give it a 3

My Uncle got this for Christmas, and I listened to it while my family visited. I enjoy it. It's nothing spectacular, but I enjoy all the songs except (Won't Somebody Dance With Me). There's enough good material on here for a few listens. While I like the original arrangement of "Disney Girls" I like this version a lot. Rock and Roll Survivor is the best one on the album. Thank You Baby is taken from the Bruce & Terry Melcher days and I like this version better than the original. I think my favorite is Rendezvous, a nice up-beat tempo song. I Write The Songs is great too. I rate this a 4. A 5 if it didn't have Won't Somebody Dance With Me.

This is what introduced me to the Beach Boys, after listening to Surfin' which was my favorite BBoys song at the time. I recieved it as a holiday present when I was in 7th grade.
Does anyone know why the 'Hereos and Villians (backing track)" is only :47 seconds? Is there a full version of the Beach Boys H&V anywhere? (pm if you can send it to me) I have the BWPS 2004 version I got from iTunes but I want to hear the whole backing track to The Beach Boys' version of Heroes & Villians.
Thanks!

5.
Best album ever hands down. Although I do prefer the alternate "Im Waiting For The Day" with Mike on lead, and the alternate Sloop with Carl on the first verse, but even still greatest piece of music ever, imo. Perfect harmonies, perfect orchestration, etc. etc. I could go on, but I won't.

I got this for "free" through a BMG music deal. Glad I didn't spend any money on it. Nothing special here, I enjoyed The Beach Boys' (Mike and Bruce) renditions of these songs when I saw them live over Thanksgiving last month (especially their "Sloop John B") more than this cd/dvd.
The Pet Sounds interviews on the dvd was awesome though.

I bought this for around eight bucks, and it's a good listen. I think this has to be my favorite rendition of "Wonderful", I don't know why I just like it the best. The backing vocals to me sound closest to the Beach Boys versions, but listening to Brian's new band more and more, it tops the backing vocals on this album but their vocals "better than the Beach Boys"? I'd say no.

Best Brian Wilson solo (imo) before SMiLE. I love mostly all the songs on here. "South American" is my favorite, alogn with the title track. I love the clarinet opener to "She Says That She Needs Me" and the song itself. The two Beach Boys covers don't hold a candle to the originals, but I actually like this arrangement of "Keep an Eye on Summer" better. "Let Him Run Wild" is sort of "eh..." the original by far is better. "Dream Angel" is one of the most catchy tunes on this I think. I don't really care much for "Cry" but it's average and fits in the album well enough. "Lay Down Burden" reminds us of how good Brian makes great ballads. "Sunshine" and "Happy Days" are the most obscure numbers on this one. I do like "Sunshine" with it's "All Summer Long"-ish style sort of. "Happy Days" is an odd way to end the album just by the feel of the song but it ties up the whole "Imagination" very well. I enjoy the sax in the song, which sounds like it's in a minor key with Brian and the news going on in.
I rated this a 5, but if I could change it I'd give it a 4. Definately a must have for Brian fans, imo.
