I recorded it, I have it uploading to YouTube as we speak.

What's your account page?

Well, my normal account is beachboysvidz, but unfortunately I have to upload this one on my other one WDWparkvids    (I'm a Disney geek, whatever)

(Disneyland nerd here)

Watching now on DVR, this is actually making me really happy.

-Brian sounded great on God Only Knows
-When David Marks said "Brian was like my football coach" and Brian smiled wide, that was so great.
-Host is annoying, but whatever.
-Brian saying "it was a creative explosion" and the band cracking up was great.

Brian - Pet Sounds
Mike - All Summer Long
Al - Holland
Carl - Wild Honey
Dennis - Slip On Through
Bruce - Surf's Up (probably only because of Disney Girls, but still...)

I had a question about the Dennis/Carl videos/vocals during the 50 tour.

Obviously they give Cowsill a click track to keep the band with Carl and Dennis' voices, but since the vocals are from live videos (and Carl's is with Dennis drumming in 1980) how exactly do they keep up with the live imperfections?
I was wondering about something along those lines as well. During God Only Knows the video that is played is from Knebworth, so I assume that that's where Carl's  vocal is from. My question is, is Carl's guitar playing also being heard?

Hmm, I doubt it. I'll bet they just took out his vocals. I just watched that Knebworth DVD and Dennis is definitely not always perfectly on time.

I love Wendy, but it wasn't very strong last night. I'd love to see Kiss Me Baby. Playing Dance Dance Dance makes more sense to me than playing Do You Wanna Dance.

I like most of the covers, but I think California Dreamin' needs to go before I see the show again in June. It feels a little out of place especially so close to the top of the 2nd set. I know it's another song Al gets to sing lead on, but there's plenty of songs he can sing lead on that they could add.

Is there any reason Al couldn't take Darlin'?

Finally got home. Amazing show. As close to perfect as you could possibly expect. The car medley at the end of the first set was one of the strongest points. David Marks stood out to me, he's an absolute monster on guitar. Incredible leads and solos throughout the night.

I agree that Bruce's voice is probably the weakest of any of the Beach Boys at this point, but he certainly had strong points as well, especially the end of Disney Girls. Also, did he flub the first line in Wendy?

Mike's voice seems weak when he tries to hit a higher octave, but he sounds great on all the "hits."

Al sounds just as good as he did back in the 60s. It was awesome hearing him sing Cottonfields, Help Me Rhonda, Wouldn't It Be Nice, etc.

If there was autotune, it was minimal. Maybe on TWGMTR. Brian was hitting some high notes that I'm not quite sure if he can hit... and it wasn't just because Jeff was doubling him. I might have been imagining it, but Brian almost looked at Jeff annoyed when he doubled him at the end on TWGMTR on one of the verses. Like a "Hey, I can do that on my own, thanks" look.

Don't Worry Baby is my favorite Beach Boys song, but I really wish Jeff wasn't taking lead on that one. I'd much rather hear Brian, Al or Bruce do it.

The backing band sounded great, Mike was funny and a great front man and the crowd was really into it. Two funny moments were Mike telling everyone to buy merch during the intermission and Bruce telling everyone to come back for tomorrow's show. It was almost like they were reverting back to their pre-Brian tours. Hey guys, you don't need to do that anymore...

No Stamos, but I wouldn't have minded if he were there.

Edit: Had some great seats. I originally had balcony, but saw there was lower level available a few days ago with "possible obstruction," no complaints here:

Is this full video available anywhere?

http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/videos.html?id=1973693574

There's the full interview. Probably the best Brian interview I've seen in the last 5-10 years. George gets a little heavy on "how did that feel?" But Brian is very talkative.

I can't believe people picking 'Be True to Your School' as one of their favourites, I find it to be on of the worst tracks they have in their early portfolio  Roll Eyes
To each their own, I guess Wink

I'm a sucker for verses, and I love the Be True to Your School verses, especially the "on Friday we'll be jacked up on the football game" verse.

I'm a chorus-man myself, but I still think songs like 'Cherry, Cherry Coupe', 'No-Go Showboat' and 'Car Crazy Cutie' compositionally have better verses than BTTYS. Smiley

I like 'Car Crazy Cutie,' but 'Pamela Jean' is just SO MUCH better.

Making that list, it really showed how strong my top three songs from Carl and the Passions "So Tough" are. Cuddle Up is my favorite Dennis song, Marcella is a great 70s Beach Boys rock song and Hold On Dear Brother is one of my favorite 70s country songs period.

All three are very underrated songs.

I can't believe my first post is defending John Stamos, but isn't it entirely possible that no one in the band knows the lyrics to "Forever" and that they're not on the prompter because it's usually a recorded track playing?

Stamos might have been the only one able to jump in.
