Check it out, track #5. It's a beautiful song.

When was it announced that "Peace on Earth" from "Lady & The Tramp" would be on this album?

"I Will Always Love You" I don't think has ever been booted but it's been played in public before -- at the Carl Wilson Foundation show for one (I think as part of the Carl doc)

Yes, it was part of the Carl doc shown at the CWF show. I'm with Adam -- I'd love to see an official release of this particular Carl song!

Can this song be heard anywhere?

Anyone know if "I'm a Man," "I'll Always Love You," "Surfin' Suzie," or "Little Girl" have ever been released on bootleg or otherwise?
430  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Any outtakes from "KTSA" ever released? on: May 29, 2009, 01:38:20 PM
Hey everyone, I was recently looking through a BB recording history and a few unfamiliar titles popped up as I was looking through the recording sessions for "Keepin' the Summer Alive." They include "I'll Always Love You," "Surfer Suzie," "Why Didn't I Tell You," "Smokey Places" and "Boys & Girls." Has anyone ever heard these songs? If so, are they available via bootleg or otherwise? I'm not asking for the songs per se, but it would be nice to know whether or not they're actually "out there" somewhere.  Wink Thanks!

P.S. Is is true the BB re-recorded "Been Way Too Long" late in the "KTSA" sessions?

Does anyone know what songs were cut from the "KTSA" sessions that would've improved the album had they been kept on the final tracklist?
432  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / What if the Beach Boys had recorded "That Lucky Old Sun"? on: January 31, 2009, 11:14:02 AM
Hypothetical question: What if the BB had recorded "TLS" in the mid-late 70's? How do you think it would have been received? Also, whom do you think would have taken the lead on each of the songs?

I can definitely hear Carl singing "Morning Beat," Mike on "Good Kind of Love," and Dennis on "Midnight's Another Day." What do you guys think?

Anyone have any alternate tracklist ideas for "Wild Honey"?

And, an alternative sequence for Sunflower. I think it flows better, both musically and lyrically. What do you think?

SIDE A

1. Add Some Music To Your Day
2. Got To Know The Woman
3. Slip On Through
4. Our Sweet Love
5. Forever
6. Deidre

SIDE B

7. Tears In The Morning
8. At My Window
9. Cool Cool Water
10. All I Wanna Do
11. This Whole World
12. It's About Time

Really interesting sequencing here, Sheriff. Any other alternate tracklists? (Say, for "Smiley Smile" or "Wild Honey"?)

Surf's Up:  there should be six songs per side (the only reason there were five was because Dennis withdrew his)

Side One:
Long Promised Road
San Miguel
(Lookin' at Tomorrow) - eliminate if you insist on five tracks per side
Big Sur (Landlocked version)
Sound of Free
Don't Go Near the Water

Side Two:
Surf's Up
Feel Flows
Disney Girls
4th of July
'Til I Die
Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again (hope this gets out of the vault sometime!  Until then, A Day in the Life of a Tree can go between Disney Girls and 4th of July).

Just noticed this one, too, Bicyclerider. Once I finish listening through Sheriff's proposed "Sunflower" retooling, I'll give this a listen.  Smiley

Hey, runners! I'm just getting some outside advice.  Smiley
436  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Alternate/personalized tracklists? on: January 06, 2009, 10:38:07 AM
Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had ever come up with any personalized tracklists/playlists for any of the Beach Boys albums. I'm particularly interested in playlists for the records from "Smiley Smile"-"Surf's Up," when it seems like their albums were a real hodge-podge of different recordings (i.e. with some "SMiLE" tracks thrown in). But my request is that you can only use songs that were either on the actual album (for example, "All I Wanna Do" on "Sunflower") or recorded/demoed for that album but unused ("San Miguel" on "Sunflower"). I'd also ask that your playlists don't contain any greater number of songs than were actually on that record, such as how "Surf's Up" had ten tracks.

Thanks!
