Morning Christmas.
353  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Are you a tinnitus sufferer? How does it affect your hearing? on: December 21, 2013, 07:58:03 PM
As many of you know, I'm only 16.
I have Hyperacusis, which is essentially the opposite of hearing "damage",
Basically the part of the ear the tightens when loud sounds occur isn't working right.

So, I suffer from Tinnitus, and it really stinks that people normally think its because I
Listen to music at unsafe levels or such, when in reality, I'm very careful of it, and you can see that
on my albums, which are mixed quite low.

Hyperacusis is one of the major pieces of my "mental breakdown".
It gives me not only Tinnitus, but also Exploding Head Syndrome...

Ugh.... It really sucks :/
354  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / My Diane on: December 18, 2013, 06:37:02 PM
Made this a few weeks ago, at the height of all this crap I'm dealing with...
It's pretty bad, so I wasn't going to release it, but this song deserves more play time Smiley

Enjoy,  http://soundcloud.com/mikeleroymusic/my-diane

I thought about asking about American Spring era recordings.
Whatcha guys think?

If it were me, I'd probably mention something about Love You or Friends - since we know he likes those albums. Maybe you could get him to sing a little bit of "Busy Doin' Nothing".  Serenade

Agreed, and don't worry, from what I saw of Brian he seems to be really easy to talk to once you settle down haha!
356  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / Re: *My Favorite Time of The Year* on: December 16, 2013, 12:04:46 PM
Thanks, yeah I've been working a lot more, as matter of fact I've always been working a lot on a commission from last year that's still ongoing!

357  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / Re: *My Favorite Time of The Year* on: December 15, 2013, 06:32:41 PM
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! As for the vocals, I totally get you there, this track in particular, the vocals were a bit rushed, but the session added that excitement you can only get when you're really in the mood, so I kept them in regardless. I've been looking into working with another vocalist, but I work at such at such a strange pace that I normally just keep trying until I get it as perfect as it can be Smiley This track was a bit more laid back, so I promise the album tracks will have much more "professional" vocals haha Smiley

So, as is such tradition, I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmastime with a free single!

This year, I've really pushed hard to make a great track for everyone, I hope you enjoy!

360  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Little Saint Nick and The Man with All the Toys - which version do you prefer? on: December 06, 2013, 06:42:26 PM
Agreed. IMO, What I Really Want for Christmas is Brian's most ambitious solo song outside of Smile. It sounds so much like a "Pet Sounds Christmas song" and it's utterly brilliant.

Figured this was worth it's own thread...

Here's my finished version of "Why" with Brian's music and my words and Vocal arrangement!

I'm planning on opening this up as an e-Collab soon, but this is my "demo" of what I've written Smiley

363  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / I was totally made for these times on: November 14, 2013, 07:30:22 PM
I've got a pretty big confession here, I've finally decided what I consider the greatest Beach Boys song.

I Just Wasn't Made For These Times.

From the amazing chords with an amazing bass line to one of the greatest leads ever...

The lyrics are perfect, anyone can feel them yet they're so deep.

The piano playing the "swing" during the chorus that you can feel, but only hear on instrumental mixes.

The BEAUTIFUL Spanish lyrics may be my favorite part of any Beach Boys song.

The first thermin solo probably on any rock track...

That amazing fade out...

And most of all... it is everything that makes Pet Sounds great in one track.

So, that's my #1, even over Surf's Up and Good Vibes.
364  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / Re: I Resign (original song, collaboration with rab2591) on: November 10, 2013, 08:54:11 PM
Nice stuff here! It sounds modern while maintaining that old school feel and sensibility!
Very good, we've gotta Collab as a team sometime too :D

Thanks! I'm gonna be doing lots of different kinds of music on the album, including some more doo wop!

Hey guys!
I got lots of great feedback on this song, a lot of you loved it, so I made a video for it!

Of course, the album is slowly happening, but I need a boost and the great feedback from you guys always helps!
I'll release this song with the album next year.

This may not be the final mix, keep in mind, but it's pretty damn good if I may say so Smiley
So, enjoy, and let me know what you'd like from my next album!

370  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson - The Bed Years on: November 04, 2013, 07:50:02 PM
I have a pretty interesting story that kinda relates to this topic.
About a year ago when I was first realizing my issues I was really hesitant about
talking to anyone about it, I used music and if you go back you can hear that in some tracks.

Anyway, I had a few days where I was so down I was afraid I was in danger, most people who've dealt
with this know sometimes you don't really want to die, you want to escape, and I feel like that's what Brian
was feeling. During the day he hid from fear, he didn't stay in his room all the time, he just went up when
he was feeling down (fortunate pun...) He still went out at night, he was just dealing with his issues on his own.

Man, I spent two whole weeks in my room straight listening to Pet Sounds and writing... Actually, I listened to A Day In The Life of a Tree for almost a few days on repeat. It's all about getting away from the pain :/

Summer Breeze is my most nostalgic song ever. Hands down. Brings back so many feels.
373  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Glenn Miller on: November 02, 2013, 10:07:41 AM
My musical education is opening me up to various styles, and most recently I've been introduced to the genius of Glenn Miller.
Anyone else hear a little Brian Wilson in this? I think this later day recording of the Glenn Miller Orchestra does the song the most justice today.

Probably the best album of the 80's.

Pet Sounds 2.

10/10 5/5 9999/9999

Side 2 makes me want to hold my beating heart in my hand as i slowly squeeze the life from myself
